I hear ya. That's an acceptable risk IMO. Drivers who drive like morons, in wet AND dry conditions, lose traction. Good drivers don't. I've never been in an at-fault accident since I got my license at 18, and I'm almost 58 now. So yeah, if one morning I wake up and decide to drive like a moron, I guess I deserve the consequences.

Kumho Ecstas. In short, 3-5% penalty in gas mileage, softer compound, much less noisy than OEMs, 40-50k life.

I don't really care what tires you run or what you set the pressure to. I assume you've figured out how to find the level of traction for each condition and drive appropriately. What I do find funny though is that you don't trust this guy with your tire air pressure, but you are still trusting him with your engine. Maybe it's time for a shop change to go with your new valve stem caps.

Yeah, I know, but what are you gonna do? Reminds me a long time ago, I took my then Mazda to a J***y Lube place down the street for an oil change. This is beyond me, but the guy must have somehow ended up pouring the new oil into the intake manifold because as soon as I tried to start it, the engine hydrolocked and bent the con rods. I've tried three different dealers and they all seem to be brainwashed into to messing with your tire pressures and washing your car, even though I tell the SM multiple times not to do it. Last time I taped a hand written page to the windshield that said "NO WASH", and still had to run and stop the guy who was about to whip out his god-knows-how-dirty sponge and leave swirl marks all over the paint. I'd change the oil myself, but in my line of work I deal with high-level execs, and showing up with dirty fingernails is not going to work. Maybe when I retire.

When you consider that Toyota's recommended tire pressure (for the fronts) is 38 PSI (33 for the rears- per the door sticker) 40 PSI is not that extreme an increase. Of course, when I take it in for service (still under the 2yr free service period) they set all of the tires to 32 PSI....

Mines says 35 all around. So maybe something different per year?

Could be. The wife’s 2016 C and my 2018 C both call for the 38/33 psi pressures.

62FEBCC7-A85A-41C9-8F11-EEAC90A4EB12.jpeg I installed this yesterday. After throwing this in my gas pedal is more responsive where I don’t need to floor the pedal going up hills. I’m 1/4 throttle and going to speed way faster.

It’s an actual hks axle back. It’s about 90 disables when you on the gas so not very loud. YouTube the sound. The which spoiler? The hatch is the trd one. The one on the top is the optional spoiler for the car in japan.

90 decibels it not too bad. Now if they made an anti-lag system, I'd be all over it, LOL.

Yes, I meant the lip on your hatch, below the rear wiper. I didn't realize TRD makes a hatch for the C, or was it a factory option? I don't think I've seen that before.

    It’s an option in japan.
Most of the parts for our car will be needed to be brought in from japan. I take a trip there once a year and have fellow Prius c (aqua) owners as friends there. They help me out if needed.

Did you also remove the ridiculously restrictive looking horn thingy on the side of the intake box? Also in regards to this "horn looking thing", has anyone noticed there is what appears to be a paper filter media on the side of it? It doesn't appear to be serviceable, nor can I find any mention of it in the manual - but does this need to be cleaned?

Only curious. My son and I had the hood up the other day when we talked about putting in a K&N filter. Noticed how restrictive that was and doubted the K&N would help any without any mod to that intake side of the box. As for the blitz suction kit, it doesn't look from the picture to be much larger than the stock unit. Did you compare the size of OEM to that blitz kit?

Apologies for all the questions here. I only got curious after my son and I were looking at it's intake system. We're able to mod a chrome intake pipe he isn't using on his Civic that would perform this service nicely.

{edit} - here's a pic of that horn thingy on the side of the intake box showing the paper media "filter" if that's what it is.

The blitz intake is in diameter bigger since it acts like a chamber intake. The horn you wanna call it can be deleted with a different style intake that replaces the stock intake box. That horn is where the air get sucked up from and filtered in the stock box. All car models has some type of tube coming from the box and going to some part of the engine bay or near the front bumper. As the k&n filter is more breathable than the paper filters also in long term pays for its self since a filter can run you about $5-10 per time you change it other than the “million mile” replacement. I just went this route since I wanted a Japanese intake. I could’ve went with a Japanese filter but it’s pretty much the same I will have to replace it after a while. I was looking more long term.

I'm still curious to know if you replaced the intake "horn". Seems that whole Blitz kit would be a waste of money without replacing that restrictive air "horn" intake. As for the K&N - I've had several over the years. Yes it's more breathable, but you also sacrifice filtration. Which means you should probably change your engine oil a bit earlier than needed. So in the end are you saving money with a K&N? Probably not. Do I have one on my Prius C? Yes.... It's probably the only thing I'm able to change out right now without blowing the warranty. Does it help acceleration - no.

    More info

If you're interested in one I could refine the design a bit and figure out what the material cost was. Shoot me a DM sometime.

I actually have the intake ring made for the Prius c that does help with the acceleration. I’m not using it and was going to sell if you’re interested. It was 1/4 throttle and I got up to speed very fast. Changed my mind I got it in japan where they do use it in our type of car there. They say it’s dyno proven. But yea I did an oil change recently the color of the oil was the same with or without the filter.

Did you have to do a lot of disassembly to replace the wire harness, or you can simply access the plug of the harness after removing the tail lights?

    Thanks!
