Any regrets for selling your Prius?

Caravan must be a tad narrower . This sucker is pretty wide. Hard to scoot by its sides - once it's backed into the garage. Appears wider than the model X, which seems roomier walking around it in the garage. They gave us among other things, a thousand bucks for a "conquest sale", having turned in the leaf. Ha! I would have paid them $1,000 to take it.

As far as getting cut off goes, I also have a Suburban and it will happen just as often in it as the Prius. Sounds like you have an itch and are trying to justify it. Plenty of people change cars every couple of years so there is no shame wanting to try something different. Also, if you bought your Prius new it is likely paid off. Double the cost of gas is nothing if you also have a new car payment and can manage that lump.
Yes a big, new, quiet and comfortable vehicle is nice. Go for it if you like. It's your decision to make.

 

I agree. And the key words are... If you can afford it. (Payment, gas, insurance.)
Now that I'm 65, I realize just how fast time flies.

But, on the other hand, it's great to have a vehicle that's paid off, and gets excellent gas mileage. I zip around pretty briskly, so rarely get tailgaters anymore. But do wish the car was a little bigger and quieter. Give & take. (And there's no excuse for me getting fatter! )

 

Payments...

It's a looking glass world, when paying cash is pegged as the domain of the rich. Far from it, just patient.

 

I'm the same way ad couldn't imagine buying gas every week. If it matters I've been driving my sons Honda HRV for a bit while he's got my car and I'm getting mpg's in the high 30's. Pretty good power to boot - I'd imagine the Rav4 would be similar, if not better with a Rav4 Hybrid.

 

it will be WAY cool - the day Tundra EPA's ~85MPGe, with 33 ev miles. I'd be all over that, & have no regrets unloading whatever to get one. Hope Toyota knows that.

Toyota is the hybrid expert. Every model in their lineup should offer a hybrid version. What is preventing them from doing that?

 

O.T. To Mendel: The majority of the average working-class slugs make payments. And even the well-off, as most of their money goes to their huge mortgage. (Especially in California. Housing costs and rents are absolutely ridiculous here.) And of course, very few people live within their means. Being in debt is the name of the game for most folks.

I should've bought a 2 or 3 yr old used Corolla. Still kicking myself for blowing $27K on a new Prius. Dementia must be setting in already.

 

I believe they do. Except for the trucks. But eventually I think they will.
I'm surprised they don't advertise it, they advertise the gas only vehicles.

 

I saw a great looking Highlander SUV hybrid yesterday. Very nice, but way out of my affordable bracket. I wonder if the hybrid technology will ever come down in price.

So we still need a hybrid truck, and a hybrid Corolla in the US lineup.

 

I thought Toyota said, early on, that after doing Camry Hybrid they were going to do Tundra. That was likely before the Tundra grew from my F150 size to F250 size, though.

My Tundra is more like the current Tacoma, but a Hybrid Tacoma would be cool too!

 

There is a hybrid Corolla. I believe I saw one today, I believe it was a Corolla with the hybrid sticker on it.
It was a quick look so it might be a different car.

There are already Corolla Hybrids in other countries, but not in the US, AFAIK.

 

No Corolla, Just the Avalon, RAV, Highlander, Camry, and Mirai.... So I don't know what I saw...

I had a late model Corolla loaner, wasn't too impressed. But who know, this'll be a new edition, basically a different vehicle.

 

I want hybrid or not, car with >40mpg that can haul drywall.

On original topic, I regret selling (trading in) my Gen3 when I purchased our current PRIME last year. At that time we had old Sienna that can haul drywall as our second vehicle. That was then, the van had catastrophic drive train failure that made me to get rid of despite having only 100k miles on it. Now we were left with single car, that is PRIME with no cargo space. Never mind haul drywall any more. If I did not trade-in that Gen3 (which was only 2 years old and had only 30K), I would not have to carpool to work so often (that's when my wife needs PRIME). Still looking for the perfect drywall hauler. Sigh
