Typical stupidity! Disqualified for a car that's not as good at destroying the planet's atmosphere / setting the whole world on fire... What a bunch of losers all the winners really are!!!

 

Regardless, if there were clear rules up front, then no one should be shocked. The fact is that it did very well, just didn't meet the requirements?

But, pretty classless to allow them to race, announce them as 2nd place, THEN protest and remove them from the podium.
I don't think they were hiding the fact that they were electric.
I think event organizers could of been up front about their ineligibility. Letting them go through all the work, even take the podium, and THEN disqualifying seems like poor form to me.

Not just poor form, but outright spite... So many ICE loyalists are massively upset that Tesla vehicles rolling off an assembly line are very rapidly taking all the records at both the drag strip and the race track. And if you dedicate your every waking hour to innovate and improve on your modified ICE and you get beat by a stock vehicle rolling off the assembly line at thousands per day, you're not gonna play fair, because it's obvious that all you life's labors don't even compare.

 

They keep making that mistake, again and again and again...

 

I don't know how it works.
But if you listen to the "chatter" as they are being unceremoniously disqualified, it almost sounds like an fellow competitor raised a protest.

I'd be curious as to where the protest came from.

The Dodge Charger Daytona was the first car to break 200 mph (321 kph) in a NASCAR race and ended up winning so many races that NASCAR banned it and its sibling, the Plymouth Road Runner Super Bird . The Dodge Daytona came out Richard Petty wanted a similar car made by Plymouth, the Plymouth Superbird.
What's really cool about the Dodge Charger Daytona is that it raced back when NASCAR was a lot closer to true stock-car racing than it is today.
