I have an old Corolla that uses oil. Have not paid that much attention to how fast it uses oil so I say roughly a quart every 1000-1500 miles or so but the option to run to the dealer for things like this since it could mean an expensive repair that does not qualify under the warranty.

by design, most cars "should" burn oil but most new ones burn it so slowly that its not that easy to tell. In my Priuses, none burn oil fast enough to warrant adding any between changes.

and yea, a quart every 600 miles is very extreme in my opinion and I would start looking for signs of leakage. burning it at that rate is likely to produce a pretty hefty cloud at start up every time the car has sat for any length of time

    Yes, for oil seals failure.
    No, for oil ring failure.

Toyota's oil burning disclaimer in the Owner's Manual is pretty sad. That said, we're not consuming any, as far as I can see, around 4 years and 48000 km's.

That's something new for me: for decades with Hondas, it was pretty much the norm to be down close to 1/2 quart every 6000~8000 km's.

1796 miles driven & needed a quart at mileage 137998. So not over this!

There is a Technical Service Bulletin, two actually. The first is an oil consumption test. And if you "pass" the first, the second, basically an instruction to remove the engine, partially disassemble it, and replace the pistons and piston rings, with revised parts. I'll attach those two documents.

The threshold for consumption in the first TSB is 1 quart per 1100~1300 miles.

Of interest: 2014 model year has the revised pistons, and 2015 has both the revised pistons and rings:
