My 07 prius was down for a solid month while i fixed my hv battery. During that time my 12v battery died. I recharged the 12v battery and got the car up and running perfectly.

Except now my original smart key fob that had full sks functionality no longer functions except to start the car. I used to be able to walk up to the car and open the doors with the fob in close proximity. I also was able to lock the car with the fob or even with the little push pad on the door. Not anymore. I have to use the key to lock and unlock the door.

Ive searched the forums for the past 2 weeks but cant find instructions on what to do about this. I did find instructions for programming a totally new key, but thats not my issue. Can anyone help? I do have the TIS software.

    Thank u in advance.
    Antonio

You didn't say that you changed the button battery in the key fob. Hopefully that's all that's wrong.

The 12v is fully charged now and the key fob battery is new.

I forgot to mention I did change the key fob battery. The 12v battery was initially drained down to like 6v but i also forgot to mention that i did unplug the battery while the car was down all that time.

I will try the button under the steering wheel. That would be awesome if thats all it is!

what does fully charged mean, that the charger shut off?

you can also check the battery connections, especially neg to body ground

Fully charged means i connected the charger to the 12v battery and fully charged it. The car runs flawlessly and the 12v battery is not the issue.

I checked the button for the sks under the steering wheel and its on...

The remote still not working properly.

Good question. I believe there have been instances of people getting fob batteries so weak they would not work. Or buttons getting stuck.

if your car starts, the keyfob ID should still be in the car memory. that means the antenna inside is working. you may want to look into why the side antennas don't detect the key.

The light on the remote was not coming on. I checked the battery to make sure i got the right one and fitment and it was the right one and installed correctly. I got the Energizer lithium CR2032.

I reseated the circuit board and pushed the button and it worked. Im rough with my stuff but this was a bit unexpected.

The alarm can now be set with the fob. So thanks a bunch guys. I appreciate it.

Any ideas about getting the proximity sensors to detect the fob so i can ooen the car withouth a key? And keyless start still dont work. I get the orange key w exclmation point when trying to start the car.

I checked the key button under the steering wheel and its not pressed in.

Do you see the red light on the fob come on at any time? When I am sitting in the car with the fob in my hand, not in the key slot, I see a brief occasional red light flash from the fob. I assume that means the fob is communicating with smart key ECU. You may have to wait until it's dark outside to actually see the flash. If you don't see it, and you say the same key worked before, I would guess the fob battery is weak or does not have a solid connection.

    I have a surprising update

Actually this was my next step. I was going to see if techstream could fix it.

But out of the blue, friday after work, the full functionality of the key fob returned. I have no clue as to why its now fixed. But it works great. I can open the car and start it with the fob in my pocket.
