The reason he'll sell 'em for cheap is because they're dishonest garbage that create fine particulate that kills people in great numbers every year: 38,000 people a year die early because of diesel emissions testing failures | Environment | The Guardian

E.U. Estimates Over 500,000 Early Deaths From Diesel, Other Pollutants | Fortune

There's nothing clean burning or fuel efficient or even honest about diesel engines... The teamsters and the mob made sure that no emissions limits ever took hold for as long as possible. Wasn't until 2007 that limits to diesel pollution started in the US and it was a miserable start with many of those systems failing in the first couple years. Add to that VW & Audi losing tens of billions of dollars in payouts because they were caught rigging emissions testing as well as falsely claiming clean diesal is a thing. It's not.

Don't be a part of the pure evil of diesel... There's way more bad about it that we still don't know and what we do know is rotten to the core!

I don’t think u/k diesel or older large u.s. diesel is the same as u.s. small engine diesel

From what I have read in the diesel threads here, the science is out on all fuel emissions consequences

Yea and as long as no one agrees the criminals who've been pushing diesel for years will continue to dupe people like you and your family into poisoning your lungs and creating more not less greenhouse gases: "The higher energy density also means that burning a gallon of diesel emits more greenhouse gases than burning a gallon of gasoline—about 15 percent more, to be specific." --Slate.com

I remember all the bio diesel buffoons that would claim there horrible nasty smelling cars produced exhaust so clean they could put their mouth over the exhaust pipe with no ill effect. Seriiously the level of stupidity regarding diesal has no limits and if it was a really good car, the person selling them wouldn't have so many of them at such a low price.

And then there's NOX poisioning that along with particulate gives hundreds of thousand all over the world an untimely death:

And the diesel Equinox will go 15% further than the gasoline one per gallon of fuel burned. In terms of green house gas emissions, they are the same.

Diesel's have had particulate filters for over a decade now. One with thousands of miles on it will have a soot free tailpipe. Can't say that about gasoline. The US doesn't even test gasoline cars for particulates. All the direct injected ones, and even some port injected, exceed the threashold of particulates that required a filter on diesel exhausts.

In the US, diesels have to meet the same NOx limits as gasoline cars. They have naturally lower carbon monoxide and volitales emissions than gasoline models.

Diesels have discounts on them for the very same reasons hybrids have them. They are a tough sell at MSRP when gas is so cheap.

How many idiots does it take to turn a discussion about zero-emission vehicle sales into a thread advocating for the noisiest nastiest smelling dinosaur on the road? Every major vehicle designer in the world other than rocket builders have plans on the drawing board to shift to clean electric power in one way or another, except not to be out done a bunch a of as*hats on here are trying to save dinosaurs by using false claims to advocate for them. Stop living in the past and focus on a rapidly approaching future!

Thread drift happens but flogging others is less efficient than diesel.

Gas engines now sometimes have particulate filters. See MB.

Electric doesn't work for all purposes and users. Otherwise, all the Prime owners here would have a Bolt, Leaf, or Tesla instead.

Then engines don't have to run on fossil fuels. At this moment, renewable fuel for diesel cycle engines shows the most promise for being sustainable. There is already a chain of stations selling 100% second generation biodiesel that is a straight replacement for fossil diesel in California.

Is this in all markets? Europe has recently stopped giving petrol cars an exemption to particulate testing.

Toyota is using the added complexity of both port and direct injection in their new engines in order to avoid the need for an exhaust filter.

Take your fake sustainability and bogus poison air diesel advocacy and find a forum that better reflects your own stupidity.

This is not the proper place for any of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The OP started a discussion about EV and Plug-ins and the latest sales thereof and you and Bisco hijacked the forum on behalf of a fossil fool industry that would't make an honest claim about the demise of their fuel even if their life depended on it! What part of circling the drain don't you understand? Don't answer that... It'll just bring more shame and head shaking for everyone involved in this thread.

And you as well... I mean we all know you don't own a Prius plug-in and you don't even live in Boston and you get paid by the fossil fuel industry for all the anti-Prius posts you make on here!

I know where you live too!!! And what a coincidence that it's the same place above the road where a giant boulder almost killed a Tesla driver recently... You're trying way too hard to earn your coal-rolling son's approval this weekend Bisco.... Tesla owner evades tragedy after Model 3 gets hit by 37-pound boulder

Well, I've been called a terrorist for standing up for ethanol fuel, so I'll have to give the insults here a C-.

The Prime and other plug ins in the OP have engines, thus aren't emission free.

Diesel cars generally sell in fewer numbers than hybrids in the US @bwilson4web's old source for monthly sales figures was one covering all alternate fueled cars, including diesels.

We might have had Honda diesels if not for VW.

A large part of diesel sales are trucks. Which is a good fit for ones actually used for work. Hybrid systems have been lacking on that front.
