Dodgers fans boo manager Dave Roberts before World Series Game 5 Jason Owens Yahoo SportsOct 28, 2018, 6:45 PM
i don't understand how the sox kept machado at bay, and puig struggled some, except for that 3 run homer
That's a shame. They had a helluva year after a somewhat rocky start, and while I definitely think that the team could have used a different skipper during this year's series, Roberts was probably a big reason that they GOT to the series and took home a participation trophy and a little extra spending money instead of the hardware. The one bright spot about the Bastan win is that we won't have to deal with Angelinos winning world championships for two major sports in one season.
Are you ready for some Football??? This was a nice thread. A nice diversion. I'm tired of talking about Prius cars. It's the same problems & issues over and over. Gets depressing. I'm about ready to start a new thread in Fred's House.... "What would you buy if you no longer wanted a Hybrid car?"
Nope. I Was a luke-warm fan before, because it provided a refreshing change from the constant fish-slapping that is the 24-hour news cycle. Now? It's not even good for that! I gave them a year to un-tuck. Then.....I found better things to watch on TV or in the YouTubes.
There are certain things that I like about all sports. If it's the payoffs, I enjoy the higher level of play. Enjoy college football much more than the kneeling Pros. Anything is better than watching the local shoot-'em-up news. Or cable news. Or any kind of political shows. Give me sports any day.... Even golf, so I can nap. Kershaw has about 24 hours left to make a 70 Million Dollar decision. He's 30. Had some back injuries each of the last 3 seasons? But that won't prevent some crazy owner from throwing another 200 Mil his way. (Good luck, Cubs, with Yu Darvish! )
i like football, the kneeling thing doesn't bother me, i pay no attention. it doesn't happen during the game. drop the pledge of allegiance before spotting events, problem solved.
You mean the national anthem ? I’m a fantasy football player and red zone is where it’s at. Drives the wife nuts as they flip between games and go with multiple games at one time, so I get alone time in Sunday’s . Passes the time well.
David Price opts to stay. Dodgers give Kersh an extra couple days to decide. 32 million dollars a year to throw a baseball. Wouldn't be a difficult decision for me! The majority of "average" people who attend Dodger games are probably struggling to make it on $35K a year. Corporations, and the Hollywood elite buy up most of the season tickets. I certainly won't pay those crazy prices (nor could I afford to.) I drive a Prius... which means I'm cheap & frugal. And the Rams new 2 billion dollar stadium going up? No way I'd pay 200 bucks to sit up in the rafters! And the stadium is in one of the worst parts of LA. Actually it's in the city of Inglewood. Enjoy the smog. Artist rendering.
The reason for opting out would be to secure a longer deal. So the amount per year won’t vary (or shouldn’t given he is still in his prime). I could see a new 7 year, $230MM or something like that shaking out of this. As for the Rams, that artist rendering shows that you wouldn’t be sitting in the rafters, you’d be floating in ‘em. Taking “the city of angels” statement and making it real.
How much money do those guys (truly) need?! I would be down on my knees, giving thanks, and counting my blessings everyday just to be in the Big Leagues and playing a sport for a living. The salaries are absolutely rediculous, and out of control. I could live extremely comfortable on just TWO million per year! (1 mil after tax.) 32 MILION PER YEAR? I would be giving 90 percent of that to various charities, building parks and sports facilities in the inner-cities, helping as many people and kids as possible... (And buy that nice Ford truck I want. )
I thought your girl had that truck? Most big leaguers give back. But what you are asking is how much is enough when it is about supply and demand. The best way to control salaries is to put measures in place to do so. If Dodger stadium has people attending and buying $12 beer and $7 hot dogs, where does that money go? It used to be to the owner to them fleece his pockets, but the players union employs smart folks who caught onto this charade and challenged them to the point where they could not have players for their entire career just because they drafted them. Free agency and open market economics will dictate things that seem preposterous, but those to judge that? In the baseball “business” what kershaw makes is not completely out of line with workers with his skill set. While the numbers are bigger, it is no different than the private sector and the employee value proposition each of us has. So it’s a WIIFM discussion: What’s In It For Me.
I can't even phathom those numbers they are throwing around. That's because I come from very modest & humble means. Why does a basketball player or movie star want, or need, 3 homes that look like castles and have 30 rooms?! Reality is all out of whack. Now it's all about greed and arrogance. It's way out of my league or understanding. (Yep, my long-time lady friend has that truck. She beat me to it. It's her 2nd Ford. Never had any problems with those pickups. And I can't believe how quiet it is! I was shocked, especially after driving my noisy Prius for 3 years.)
I keep picking against the rams, figuring they have to lose one sooner or later. Maybe they will beat Miami’s record!
