I wouldn't consider 81 cents "up" much of a cheering point on a ~$260 stock. Especially since it was up nearly $4 mid day and gave nearly all of that back before the close. The 30 day curve on TSLA is downhill skiing, Sonny Bono style.
Tesla closed at 276.59 today, up 6.55%. Two likely factors: a) a judge has now officially approved the settlement of the SEC’s complaint against Tesla and Elon Musk, as per prior SEC terms b) it was learned today that on last Thursday, Senator Dean Heller proposed legislation that would lift the current individual manufacturing cap on electric vehicles eligible for the $7,500 federal tax credit; Heller’s bill would have the credit phase out for the entire industry in 2022
Right, which is why I said it helped. I was happy to hear about the judges approval. I’m also hoping for a grand slam at the 3rd quarter report in a couple weeks.
Without looking, how far is TSLA off its 52 week high and 52 week low? This is a very volatile stock. I get seasick just looking at the 52 week chart. Also the volume tracks, in reverse, the share price in most cases. Scroll down for answer: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Answer Today's Best Bid: $277.46 52 week high: 387.46 Today's price is $101 LOWER. 52 week low: $ 244.59 Today's price is $32.785 HIGHER.
Source: Tesla shares jump on report Saudi Arabia sovereign wealth fund has $2 billion stake Published 12:24 PM ET Tue, 7 Aug 2018 Updated 5:51 PM ET Tue, 7 Aug 2018 Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund has acquired a significant position in Tesla shares, according to the Financial Times. The media outlet says the Saudi's Public Investment Fund bought a 3 percent to 5 percent stake in the electric car maker, according to people with direct knowledge of the matter. . . . I wonder if the first half year prices in the $350 range might have been the Saudi buying Tesla stock. You don't buy $2-3B of stock without increasing the price. So the Saudi were indirectly funding the short sellers. Bob Wilson
I just learned how to prevent my TSLA stock from being shorted: Order the broker to sell at 3-5x the current price. If you have a sell order, those stocks are kept in a separate account that can not be loaned. They have to be real shares. Bob Wilson
short seller andrew left has done a 180, and is now long on tesla. left said tesla is 'destroying the competition', and 'there is no tesla killer'
Somebody musta got a sneaky-peeky at the Q3 profits..... We'll see.... I'm still bearish on their stock personally, but I'm only betting my street cred in a Toyota forum. Better Buy: Ford Motor Co. vs. Tesla -- The Motley Fool Personally I think Ford is in deep doo-doo if they don't stop staring at trucks, but they are an oak tree right now....albeit one that's rotting from the inside out. TSLA is like a patch of kudzu. They are indeed growing like crazy, but I'm not sure that they will be around 100 years from now without a huge mid-course guidance correction to their upper level management. 290 today.....and the street is betting that they'll live to fight another day. Time will tell!
