They should start slowly making their way into showrooms in the fall. But like others mentioned, if they have too many 2018's around, they'll discount those first to make way for the new inventory.

There was another thread mentioning manufacturing & fleets that indicated a February timeframe for the 2019.

Wait for 2019, if you want to get a C class or 3 series plug in hybrid. New versions are being launched, with more range. I miss my Gen 4 Prius, mostly because of build quality. The C class has a few rattles and is built worse than my Gen 4. Also, I just had a brand new Tesla model X on loan and whilst the EV drive was amazing, the build quality was much worse than my Gen 4. I adjusted the seat to make it go back and the cheap plastic covers over the seat rail popped off!

Every car show since 2006 or 7* have pinged the Toyota desk for a Hybrid Sienna. They already had the powertrain in the Hilander Hybrid! Not only did Chrysler beat them to the punch, but they even came out with a real plugin model even before the Prime. Now that my wife has passed away, I am no longer interested in minivans, so it wouldn't matter to me if they did it now. That was a pretty nice combo, my Gen II Prus and her 2011 mini-van. Now with my Prime I can no longer tow, and it also has a ton LESS storage that my Gen II, much less the Sienna. I got Toyota's removable roof rack for stuff that won't physically fit in the trunk.

*When I got my gen II. My #2 grandson drives it now.
Most peeps with SUV don't take them off the road, so the steep attack and retreat don't really matter. The retreat part just shortens the back of the vehicle lessening it's utility. My wife would have needed running boards to get in due to the increased height. She could barely make it into her Sienna! ;)

    • New flared wheel arches
    • Triple-beam LED headlights
    • Possible rear sequential indicators
    • Apparently no powertrain improvements (earlier rumours suggest an update to the 1.8 litre engine)
    • TSS-P 2.0 is a high possibility

Hopefully the 5th gen gets the new 2L hybrid train...

But.. Isnt it supposed to get the prime headlights? seems like a waste of money for toyota to make yet another new headlight design when they have the prime..

I suspect they want to keep PRIME as unique.

I'm not sure we want the 2 litre - PRIUS is their l/100km superstar, and if they up the engine size, they'd have to work to save fuel some other way. With conventional cars gradually improving and narrowing the l/100km gap, they can't afford for PRIUS to lose what advantage they have.

Who else thought of the Mr. Horsepower logo for Clay Smith Cams, a hod rod engine parts manufacturer?

I did not relate the logo with that company but even I know it was not means as an automobile design. It was designed as a humorous comic image of Clay Smith. Toyota is missing the spiked rear end though. ;)

I did a search on their website and guess what, "Your search for "prius" did not match any products."

I suppose you could buy decals of angry bird...

Or at least have a GT option - The Prius gets both the 1.8 litre and 2.0 litre option.

I think combo injection (direct injection and port injection) is more likely than a boost in CCs. The DI would increase HP without increasing fuel consumpition. It would probably increase MPGs as well. The combo injection ala Lexus IS 350 would keep from getting DI woes (ala IS 250). Hyundai ( and some others) keeps the intake valves clean by using the DI injectors to spray the back of the valves while they are open and then spray again near top dead center.

I modified my '67 Dodge Charger when it was new. I put a module in each of the rear brakelight assemblies that sequenced the lights, ala modern Ford Mustangs. I was worried I'd get a ticket because it also sequenced them when I put on the brakes* as well as the intended turn signals. Nobody ever squawked about it though. I bought the ready made modules from the now defunct Allied Radio.

Is it already well-known that the 2019 Prius will at least have the option of AWD in the US? I couldn't find it in a number of search attempts.

AWD on the prius? Why in the world would it have that tho? Seems insanly in-effective for a pure city car.

    i did find this
    [IMG]

But when i clicked on the article they linked it said nothing about it having AWD.

So, that's the place I bought my 2004, and they sent me that email. That's how I found out about it.

E-Four is available on the Prius G4 in Japan and probably elsewhere. I'd actually love to have it here in Colorado for when I'm on ice and on a hill at a stop light (which is every day there's ice). It can be hard to get started. I remember once going 0-12 in about 30 seconds!
