Hi guys, I did not think that I would have to ask you for help, but I was wrong. I am getting the SRS light and this D1811 code. After doing some research I have determined I had a bad clock spring. I have ordered a brand new one, installed it, reset the code, but after cycling the power button the code comes back. I am just wondering if any of you had this code and how did you get it fixed. Thanks.
"D1811" is not a valid DTC. Perhaps you meant B1811, and if so there are four possible fault areas. Instrument panel wire, spiral cable, horn button (SRS) assembly, or the airbag ECU. techinfo.toyota.com is a source of the factory repair manual info so that you can follow the troubleshooting tree.
"Brand new" from who/what? A 100% genuine, OEM, and NEW, clock spring runs: $233.12 at Camelback Toyota (Phoenix, AZ), $219.74 at Conicelli Toyota (Conshohocken, PA) FraudBay (eBay) has lots of counterfeit clocksprings. Many have installed these b/c of price appeal, but have had to redo the repair a year later. You get what you pay for. More importantly, will the fakes be able to deploy the steering wheel airbag? Your's likely lasted 12years. A genunie OEM replacement will likely outlast the car. Amortize a genunie OEM replacement over 12years, the part is CHEAP. $220/12years = $18.33/year (avoid Starbucks 3.5times a year, for the next 12years) = $1.53/month (no McDonald's cheesburger once a month, for the next 12years).
