Okay, after replacing my 245K mile oil guzzler engine with a younger 128K mile engine, it ran great for a few hours. I stopped by work for about a half hour. When I left, I got about a block away, it stumbled and died. The red triangle of death was shining brightly! I got it back to work and pulled codes. P0341 Cam sensor and P3190 poor engine power were set. I cleared codes and tried again. It would start, run for about a minute then die setting P3190 again. I replaced the Cam sensor, but no change.
Since then, I took the "shotgun" approach and replaced the crank sensor, MAF sensor, coils, and topped off the gas (in case the gauge was lying).
Any suggestions? When it was running, it ran strong, so I doubt it's an internal mechanical problem.

Is it possible that the oil gussler plugged up the catalytic converter and this just finished the job? Have you tested for back pressure before the cat?

Well, that is certainly a possibility. I have a new cat for it, but hadn't replaced it because of the oil consumption. Perhaps I'll install it now. But I wonder why it ran so good for the few hours that it did.

Fuel delivery system and pressure would be a step to consider.

My thought would be all that oil heated up, softened, and was pushed back into the honey combs of the catalyst, by the new engine and then it probably hardened back up in there reducing the airflow enough that it senses it can't breathe before creating enough heat to allow it to breathe. That's if I'm even correct. I am just giving you something to check that can be don't much cheaper than taking shots in the dark with electrical components. That can get costly and people with excessive back pressure tend to do it alot.. All you gotta do it swap them. Anyone else can drill remove an o2 sensor and use a gauge to check or drill a small hole to check and then plug the hole. No OBD2 system ever really properly identifies a bad cat. It just sends you down a rabbit hole of replaces parts that are reading outside of the acceptable range because of the underlying problem. Or it identifies a part as not doing it's job, not because it's broken, but because it can't. Lmk what you find to be the culprit plz.

Yeah, I thought about putting a pressure gauge on it. What should the pressure be, around 50psi?

North of 40 is what it should be;).

How old is the fuel in the tank?

No no no. You don't want that much back pressure. Here I found a couple good videos that I think might help you.

It's pretty fresh, and I added about 4 gallons to it just in case my fuel gauge was off.

Well, back in the days when I was a real mechanic, we'd simply unbolt the cat from the exhaust manifold and see if it ran better. But these days, I'm not sure the electronics will be happy with that, LOL!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, greatly appreciated. I'll try the fuel pressure and the cat tomorrow and post my results. Now I have to recharge my 12V battery since I ran it down playing with the Techstream software!

What does the gauge in the Prius read?

One bar over half. It was reading 2 bars over empty before I added the gas.

So, I recently returned from a long trip on business. When I got home, I installed a fuel pressure gauge on my car. Lo and behold: only 20psi! This would certainly explain the symptoms, but not the cam timing code. I'll fix the fuel pump and see what happens.
According to everything I've read, the fuel tank has to be replaced as a unit and the pump cannot be serviced separately. I am quite reluctant to spend $800 on a fuel tank. Heck, I paid $1400 for the car to begin with! So, I plan to take it all apart and see if I can fabricate a replacement. Any pump I can make fit will work as long as it delivers the correct pressure and volume. If I am successful, I'll be sure to share it so others can do the same.

Well crap! This is quite possibly the worst design I've ever seen. Apparently the "bladder" with the pump is assembled to the inside of the tank before the two halves of the tank are welded together! Now, I could cut the tank open, but I don't relish generating Sparks in such close vicinity to fuel vapors. Screw it, I ordered a new one.
