I'm trying to order seat covers to cover the awful Softex and the ones I want are custom fit for the 2018 and 2019 Prime. I have a 2017. I wasn't aware there was any difference. Is there?

There should be no different between the 2017 and 2018. There are no specs on the 2019...

Well my 2018 Softex is quite nice. No thoughts of covering it up.

The stuff is just awful. The white is already stained blue just from blue jeans, stains are really hard to get off and I already have one that won't come off, it's hot as hell on my back because it doesn't breathe and it burns your skin if you touch it after it's been in the sun (even the white). I've even already had my steering wheel Softex peel off and they replaced it under warranty (a $900 repair).

I avoided the white for reasons you stated but have not experienced the other problems you are having.

I think these Softex seats are terribly uncomfortable. They're extremely stiff and they get very hot in the sun, especially on long drives during sunny days. I commute 62 miles each way to work. That useless sun visor doesn't help when the sun is coming in the driver's window either.

These seats may cause me to switch to a Honda Clarity soon. I'm really getting sick of them.

I think the seats themselves are extremely comfortable. I've just come back from a 3,000 mile trip in them and all four of us were comfortable. It's just the surface material that's lousy so I've just ordered some very breathable seat covers and see if that fixed the problem.

I wouldn't even consider a Clarity because of the lousy mileage and tiny gas tank.

Doesn't an airbag come out of the sides of the driver's seat in a collision? I thought that seat covers were a big no-no with these seats? That's why I haven't looked into getting a cover.

I like that the Clarity has a 47 mile E range and I am willing to take the drop in gas mileage for a more comfortable drive. Truth be told, I am seriously missing my 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid's comfortable seats and working sun visor. I lost a lot of comfort moving to the Prime and I'm getting to the point where I want to get that back. After all, I do have 46,000 miles on this car so I know how comfortable or uncomfortable it is. :)

That seat cover isn't offered for the Prius Prime, just the Prius. Are they the same?

Can you charge at work? If not, you'll have to stop for gas more often since the tank is so tiny.

I can't charge at work... yet. I am supposed to be moving down to our Wilmington facility in a couple of years and then I'm supposed to have access to a charger. I am not a fan of Honda - their suspension is usually too stiff for my liking - but I really want a more comfortable seat. I am also curious to hear if Lee Jay says that these seat covers help. It just sucks that I have to spend $120 to cover up seats that are a $1,500 option. :D:D

Remember I think the seats are comfortable. I just don't like the surface material. I chose the cover material for its ability to breathe. If I wanted cushion to make the seats softer, I'd have chosen neoprene or suede instead since they are much thicker.

Damn I'd love to get a set, they are pricey. I'm sure they're good quality though. Something to put on the list. I like the black interior my Prime has but does need something to spruce it up a bit.

If you are talking about the Japanese Genuine TOYOTA seat cover and not about the aftermarket one sold in the US, one thing I am not sure is that seat cover Toyota sells in Japan has right and left side differences. If they do, they may not fit perfectly onto US seats, for driver seat is on left side instead of being on right side in Japan.

Anyone interested in the ones I got should definitely write and ask for samples to be sent. They sent them to me and I chose from those. I chose spacer mesh based on my needs by your needs may be different than mine.
