Hi All, I just picked up a Prius knowing it had needed a traction battery replacement. I found a reputable battery reconditioner and purchased/installed the replacement battery. The Prius will not go into Ready mode, if I try to go into D (Drive) it will go into Neutral but not into drive. The MFD says problem and has a red car with an exclamation point. I purchased a Mini VCI cable and successfully got the TechStream software working on my computer. I've attached some images of the codes I've pulled with TechStream and also a picture of my dash lights. I checked the Orange kill switch on the traction battery. I checked the connections at the 12v. I checked most of the fuses. Not sure where to go from here. Any help would be much appreciated, I did a quick search on here and google but couldn't find anything outside of what I've already checked. Thanks in advance for any help!
Orange battery safety switch not locked. Push switch in flip up handle then slide handle down till it locks. Might throw all codes on first start up. Shut off and make car ready again and it should go into ready ok.
Can't thank you enough!! Your explanation really helped. I was sure the switch was good and even double checked it haha! I was missing the part to slide it down! Went into ready mode like you said! Still have the red triangle of death but I'll have to check that out after work today. I turned it off and back on as well. Thank you so much!
Check the basics Orange plug (I know you said you checked it, but it doesn't hurt to recheck) 12v battery. Clear all codes using techsream Provide a screen shot of battery block voltages Also of battery SOC It is in the HV Battery data list
my guess is the orange interlock breaker is not properly engaged. Do you have 220v across the hv battery terminals? and then 220v after the relays when the start button is pressed?
Thank you all for the help! I drove the car a bit and fueled up and the red triangle went away!! Car is now driving good! Now I just need to figure out why my SKS keyfob won't lock/unlock the doors. Also doesn't start the car unless it's inserted into the dash. I've ensured the button under the steering wheel is not pressed in and I change the battery on the keyfob as well ♂️ Also, the A/C doesn't work either. I'll grab a recharge kit and see if that's all it is. Just blows ambient air.
you need to disconnect your 12v aux battery, wait like 2 minutes & reconnect. this will clear out the stored bcm data & then the next time you drive the car it will recal the hybrid battery & you should be good to go...
Red Triangle and all other problem lights have disappeared. I recharged the A/C with ourp freon and it's been I've cold and holding well! Only thing left is the SKS keyfob situation. From my digging around it sounds like I might need to go to a dealer. Loving my new to me Prius! Mileage has been great so far!
Did this Keyfob ever work properly before? If not and you bought the car that way, then you would need to get it reprogrammed. It would need to have a reseed done at the dealer....and this will run you around $300.
