We had a car at the body shop and looks great but also looks like some uneven wax removal from the non fixed area.
So I think I have to get the wax layers off I guess with Dawn and rewax.

I don't know: just rewax the whole car??

For stripping wax (not that I'd do it), maybe dilute ammonia/detergent solution? That's what I soak my buffing cloths in.

Every 10 years or so I used to go to Sears, get a fresh 10 pack of flannel diapers for this purpose. Last time: sorry we don't stock flannel diaper cloths anymore, that's so 20th century.

Next thing you know, the whole store folds. :(

You can claybar too - removes the wax and also all the fine particles like road dust and train track metallic bits.

I'm almost done with my tin of Mother's paste wax (13 years!). I got sticker shock when I looked at the price of a new tin. I guess it went up in price by quite a bit in the last 13 years.

I use Mother's sealant & glaze between the claybar and wax coat to get the depth. My Blue Ribbon Metallic can benefit from it. It might not be as obvious with silver or white. (I'd imagine it will work well with Hypersonic Red or Attitude Black Metallic on the Gen 4)

I like to use a claybar and a solution of Dawn together. I'll wash the car first with Dawn, which strips the surface clean of any wax, etc., then go over it with the claybar - using the Dawn solution as a lubricant. Rinse everything thoroughly, then correct the paint (remove swirls, scratches, etc.). I apply the wax once the paint is perfect.

Seems like some cleaning solution the body shop used seemed to strip wax off, but it was uneven so I have subtle stripes where the liquid dripped down and the side of the car and it is whiter where the solution dripped. Pretty much came off with Dawn/scrubbing so I think that is superficial.

Yes maybe clay bar....did that on Day1 and maybe once again before I trade it in as shiney garage-kept Prius. Still looks good.

Man, you guys got way too much energy than me! ;) I'm not quite THAT serious. And it's so frustrating, because just 2 days after I wax my car, it's pretty dirty again. Who said white doesn't show dirt??? :ROFLMAO:

For those that don't have dirt that is sand-coloured? :D

This time, it's more like a thick dust. Gardeners blowing dirt around in the neighborhood. And landscaping at the park while I was away from the car. And got caught driving through a street construction zone. And more gardeners blowing the sidewalks near the beach parking lot.

But it was nice and shiny for TWO days. :ROFLMAO:
