You may be facing the wrath of John shortly
    ;)
Just read that production is approaching 6,000/week. That'd clear the que in less than a year if the dropouts were as high as 100K. But just more than a year, otherwise.

If you sell 10 cars one month, then 15 the next, that is a 50% increase. If you sell 10 then 20, that is a 100% increase. If you sell 10 then sell
    30, that is a 200% increase.

This isn't a slam on you Camper, but the media critics show their colors when you dig a little...just follow the money. Far more out there stand to lose when Big Oil takes a hit. Just watch them scramble when they really start to feel irrelevant. Like when the oil people switch to investing in sustainable resources and Tesla itself.

    Oh, wait...

For some it's just more fun to blurt out negative nonsense vs. positive common sense.

My guess is backlog will clear in Jan 2020 when even the 1/4 federal tax credit ends. Of the original deposits, the ones left are waiting for the standard pack, the rest have probably turned into orders or been refunded. I think this backlog will last anouther year but most will drop off by july 2019, when the tax credit drops again.

The reason the backlog will be slow to decline is that orders for cars outside the US for higher more profitable trims will continue to get ahead of standard packs in the US, orders for standard packs will still wait, until demand drops or production increases even more.

Let the world be your class room.:)

A professor(IIRC, macroeconomics) mentioned it as something he came across in another career when interacting with a customer in how a price reduction or increased was phrased, and the example I gave is were I've seen it personally used.

I mention it because of the percentages being tricky comment to show that there is other ways they can be.

I've seen it too, among the many practices if the innumerate. And it is much less common than the version Bob used at the start of this discussion.

Absent better documentation, I'll leave it categorized in the bin of erroneous math.

My point is that erroneous math can be used on purpose to mislead, and this one bit that is used for such.

You know Aaron Levenstein said... "Statistics are like bikinis. What they reveal is suggestive, but what they conceal is vital."

Yes... Totally agree! The unchecked mainstream media bias against Tesla and Musk is so deeply embedded I suspect most in the media biz are barely even aware of it and think they're being objective and just reporting the facts...
