Non-SKS keyfobs suddenly stopped working

    Hello,

    I have a 2008 Prius base model without SKS. All of a sudden yesterday the remote functions stopped working. I can still start the car with the fob inserted and use the mechanical key to unlock the doors.

    I checked the fob battery and it is still good (red LED still lights up, battery voltage still >3V measured with a multimeter). Changed it and tried just to be 100% sure. All of the resources I’ve been able to find refer to the SKS version and a button under the steering column which does not appear to exist for non-SKS (all I have down there is the TPMS button). Any other thoughts on things to try before I take it in to my trusty Prius tech?

    All right, so of course as it happens as soon as I post this I finally find the long-lost backup fob and that one works fine, so now to find the remote pairing procedure...

    Aaaaand, didn’t even need to do that. Apparently the test with the backup fob was all that was needed to get my primary fob working again.

    Weird.... but I’ll take it.
