I just purchased Gen 4 Prius three last Friday 8/3. I would agree with the above two items, at the price point of 27.5k~ish? Around The View/ Bird’s Eye View camera wouldn’t be out of step to ask. However, current Prius camera’s image is much sharper in comparison to my previous car the Nissan Rogue, but it dose have 360 monitor and curb view. With the manual in the grovebox? There isn’t much room for anything else, so additional storage spaces would be much appreciated. I would like to see they rearrange the position of USB/ Power outlet, it’s little difficult to see/use and the cables would get in the way of the cup holders.
Welcome - enjoy your new PRIUS. I think TOYOTA was intent on continuing with a car which was economical. Overall, it's well featured, drives much better than older versions, but - there's always new things coming on the next model.
Might try using a right-angle USB adapter which will point the cables in a different direction. You can also add a six inch extension cable which will make it easier to plug things in.
The Gen 4 is light years beyond the Gen 2. My wishlist would include: Heated/cooled steering wheel Better seats with lumbar support A slide-out extender piece in the visors - my Camry had those, and I missed them in my Gen 2 also The ability to have both km and miles on my speedometer (early adopters in the US didn't have that feature), likewise both °C and °F on my display A noisemaker that kids can hear, but not me (perhaps the "mosquito" noise?) More storage space. I would gladly ditch the Qi charging pad to have my cubbyhole from my 2G A solid moonroof like on my 83 Saab.900S, or better yet, none at all. A sun roof is pretty useless in Texas, and I think it contributes to warming the car during the summer. Signals on the mirrors and auto-folding mirrors I'll probably think of more after I post this... Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I use a 2x USB Hub with a cord about 750mm long and it sits in the Phone Charger area. It will pick up USB 1 and USB 2 - no more.
Agree with the SUNROOF - what a crazy idea in the tropics. I crossed a few cars off my potential buying list when I discovered that to get it well equipped, you had to have one. I'll go with the cooled wheel - but not heated. Though, even when parked in the sun, the wheel doesn't get anything like as hot as previous cars. I normally throw a silver steering wheel cover if it's in the sun - I had it suggested when a MAZDA urethane wheel got loose on the centre metal core (and was replaced under warranty) - and reiterated when I first went for a car with a leather wheel.
Good idea. Although over here, we just go with a full windshield sunshade so that the dashboard doesn't get too hot (and not just the steering wheel). I have a smaller (solid) fabric sunshade to cover the side front windows if necessary.
I'm probably too lazy for one of them. Dad had one which he laboriously put on his windscreen - kept it in the boot. Also put on a CLUB Steering Wheel lock - on a 25 yr old car. Was a 5 minute procedure to stop!!! When he stopped driving (or should I say, we stopped him driving) he wasn't impressed when I dropped him at the passenger loading zone and went off and parked it - and we'd walk back to the car and find it didn't have the lock or the windscreen thingy on. On the Camry, you had to be careful because the CLUB sounded the horn if you weren't careful - sometimes after you'd left it "COULD THE OWNER OF BRQ-123 PLEASE ATTEND TO THEIR CAR AS THE HORN IS SOUNDING". I went to it one day and the lock wouldn't work - the key jammed in. End of story - dumped.
Fair enough. The dark interior of mine is enough motivation (that and the combination of the Solar Panel Ventilation System helps keep the car cool-ish except on the hottest of days). I never bothered with a CLUB steering wheel lock. The non-Prii had locking steering wheels built in and the older Corolla had an electronic immobiliser installed (so it needed a fob to make contact or near contact before you could start ignition and we hid the contact point). By the time we had our 2005 Prius, they hadn't figured out how to hotwire the push button start - that and the combination of "oh hybrids are high voltage, don't mess with them or you'll get electrocuted" and "Prii are slow" meant theft rates were pretty low.
Thought of another item on the wishlist. @Prius Team, any way to change the feel of the SofTex-wrapped steering wheel? It feels plasticky and the Gen 4 is only 2 years old. In contrast, my 9 year old Gen 3 with a leather-wrapped steering wheel still feels nice to hold (and it's holding up very well - no peeling and you can still see the grain pattern)
I wish Toyota would get rid of their so beloved 4.2 inch MFD-Displays they use in nearly every of their cars and replace them with at least 5 inch displays . The 4.2 are nice but two 5 inch displays would make a nice difference ! I would love to see the 360° birds eye view out of the RAV 4 as an option ! Bigger glove box,current is much to small. Heated windshield wipers and washer nozzles,just as the new Corolla Hatchback has. If even the all new 2019 Corolla Hatchback gets the Camrys great new HUD then especially the Prius should get it ! It displays so much more Information as the current HUD in the Prius does. Toyota uses a direct measuring system to detect the tire pressure,meaning the computer knows exactly what pressure each tire has,so why the hell not display it on the MFD as other manufacturers do ? Why keep people guessing which tire may have a problem should the warning symbol flash ? While Rear-Cross-Traffic-Alert is great,I do think Front-Cross-Traffic-Alert should be the next step ! As I park in backwards nearly all the time,it's hard to see past cars parked left and right to me when I want to get out again,so FCTA would be a great help ! A double floor in the boot would be great,so we could have a flat cargo area again . They should increase the ground clearence,122 mm is not great at all ! How about some nice color changeable ambient lighting ala Mercedes ? Place a washer nozzle next to the back-up camera to keep it clean from the inside ! Make the Prius great again !
All good. Also an anti collision side lane feature. Return the dead cow skin please in the US. Leave the hair on the hide and do not dye it. Also a wireless mouse and pad to keep the screen clean.
Move the designer, who has given the current generation of Toyota the storm trooper frowny face, to the bean-counting dept. Plug-in capability and bigger battery to every Prius!
There is a Plug-In - it's called PRIME. It's got an 8.8kwh battery. Hence needing to plug it in. PRIUS has a 1.3 kwh battery. The 8.8kw/hr battery is huge in comparison with PRIUS' battery. If you were to put a 8.8kwh battery in PRIUS, you would: need to find somewhere to put it - like under the back seat and/or in the boot; delete a back seat position making it a 4 seater because there wouldn't be room after the huge battery occupies an occupant's space; probably lose some boot space and the spare tyre; AND - call it PRIUS PRIME.
