I like Model 3, but 200 miles is too short, for vacation trip. You have to charge 30 minutes every 2 hours. 300 miles is minumum to me, but the price is too high. I would like to see 300 mile model to be on sale for $35k. Otherwise, Prius Prime with 600 mile range is still my favorate.

300 miles is way too short for trips with current charging infrastructure. I've gone over 600 miles between chargers several times just in my first year of Prime ownership. Charging infrastructure would have to improve very dramatically before I'd consider 300 miles acceptable for a trip out of town.

as charging speeds increase, business people will start to realize there is an opportunity.

I don't have time to research it right now but it could be my imagination or could also be data base issue.

either way, it's pretty much a '35k model 3 is going to squish prime' thread. and who knew a couple years ago that a 35k model 3 was a pipe dream, and prime would come out of the gates so cheap, and a $10,000. incentive on top of it?

Yeah...I think you can think of a Prime as a Model3 with a lift-back, a 160kWh battery and the ability to charge almost anywhere at a rate of 5,000kW, all for (in my case) $23,400 out the door with the incentives for the top-end model.

What's wrong about it? Acceleration and high-speed corning mean nothing to me. Been there, done that.

and it is, after all, "all about me" the Prime is fine, & the model 3 is fine, both will survive & do okay, contrary to the Op's thoughts, roughly 2 years ago in case everyone forgot what a zombie thread this is.

I find it interesting to occasionally revisit old threads. This one is just barely a zombie though.

This one for example, Investing in Tesla? | PriusChat, has some really interesting points.
Some wrong, some right, and some rhetorical questions that are very spot on.

We can learn from the past.

What I’ve seen on some of the Tesla news reports is that the $35k Model 3 won’t be available for another year or two. The are fast tracking the Model 3 with options first. Nothing going out the door for less than $40k plus. Guess I’ll have to wait another year or so for the affordable ones.

Toyota and the others wish they had the problem of not needing to make the lower trims on any of their models. They'd settle for simply not needing to use discounts and other incentives to sell cars.

    Allow me to look back:

Since then I've gone on more than a dozen trips you couldn't do in a Model 3 with 75kWh battery.

This turned out to be wrong. When a Prime appeared near me, I went and took measurements and found the cargo area to be of sufficient size.

This turned out to be very, very correct.

    This too.

This was wrong - Prime has sold quite well.

It actually started shipping two months before this prediction (November 2016) to select markets.

As of late, it is Tesla that might be on the chopping block. How many peopled canceled their pre-orders for the Tesla 3? Perhaps they are seeing that there are a lot of other options out there that are a whole lot less $ wise. Unless you are rich and need to be 'seen in one'...why?

geopolitics, air quality and health, energy security, reduction in armed services, helping to slow climate change to name a few. same reason we moved from gassers to partial gassers.
