Ever since I picked up my 17 Prime advanced i had a slight rattle on uneven roads, it would always knock from the passenger side dash. After going back and forth for a few days tapping everywhere I FOUND THE SOURCE! Its the JBL Passenger Speaker Grill on the passenger side. Wedging a shirt between the glass and speaker grill resolved my rattles! Hopefully this helps someone else from going crazy or giving up.
LOL! Glad you found the source, but there has to be a better response and solution than the perpetual wad of cloth on the dashboard look.
*Update* 9.6.18 I went in to Tustin Toyota for my 5K Schedule and had them check out the rattle. The service adviser said there was a known fix for the dash rattle on Prius models, After the fix no more rattles!
Yeah, they probably used the "hamster removal " tool; it was just announced on the latest Factory Bulletin, har, har!! See, we all need to get back to noisy ICE engines with headers and glass packs; that way we wouldn't hear anything, and peace in the world would be achieved! I'm sure I hear tire noise now only because my Prime is so stealthy, with no engine/motor noise at all. For about 8.5 gal of gasoline, with the combination of gasoline and electric power, I travel about 4000 miles!!! Wow! Can't say it enough, I Love My Prime! Got 26,500 miles on it in about 1 1/2 years. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app. AChoiredTaste.com
Many thanks for this information. I just picked-up my 2019 Prime last week and today, (4th time on the road with less than 100 total miles), I was very disappointed to notice the noise (vibration rattle) coming from the passenger dash area. It's a relief to hear that this is a known problem and that there is a fix for it as this his would have driven me crazy. I'm a happy 3rd and 4th gen Prius owner (no rattle problems in either of those cars). This is my first plug-in, so far, other than this problem, I love the car!
I just took my 2021 Prime in for same rattles, but they said since my car is lowered, it voids warranty and any rattles won't be addressed. This is a known problem and there is a remedy from Toyota? Sucks that they won't fix this issue for me because my car is lowered.
