I know that but having the right battery charger for the AGM battery makes life a little easier.
Here is a good video by Optima shows the trick to charging an Optima AGM battery that is below the 10.5 volt cut off.
The Ctek battery charger is the one I have. The funny part is now I have the right charger to charge an AGM battery I don't own one anymore.

My CTEK 4.3 has a "mode" where the charging voltage is a bit higher, and it's recommended in particular for spiral-style AGM's, like the Optima, for one.

Yes I know that. The key word is "necessary".

Using the AGM mode might get you that last 1% on a full charge.......and it might gain you a few months of life on the end of a 6 year run.......IF YOU USE THE CHARGER ALL OF THE TIME.

If you use the charger only occasionally or to "float" the battery during storage, the different charging profile accomplishes pretty much nothing useful.

Question, will an AGM charger work with a standard 12vdc wet cell car battery?

Yeah, I think "AGM charger" is mostly just marketting? When I use my CTEK's (I have a couple, lol) on a regular battery I just don't use the optional higher voltage option.

And if you think about it: NOBODY wants to reduce their market share, say their product is exclusively for use with some small sector.

I guess Original Poster @Pri-chan is all sorted?

    Yes.
    There isn't THAT much difference.
And I don't think anybody makes chargers designed ONLY for AGM use.
That is, if they have an AGM mode at all, it is switch selectable.

There are some Gel Cell Batteries out there and it seems each different flavor has a different recommendation on the proper way to charge them.

If all else fails read the manufacturers suggestion on proper charging.:)

This debate, this knowledge and advice is great...BUT..
Kind of overkill for the OP.

Basically all the OP wanted to know was whether it would be OK to drive to the dealership once AAA had jump started the vehicle.
The OP made no pretensions, admitting to not being good with cars, and not owning tools.

If you're going to chill out in the shallow end of the pool, you don't really need a primer on how to dive from the 50ft. Diving Board.

Yeah you don't want to go off the 50 foot board into the shallow end.
