So I'm due to install a new engine (new to me) with the transaxle so I'll need to refill the inverter coolant as part of this process. I believe the Techstream software has to assist with the refill so has anybody done this and if yes, any hints or tips or a link to a write-up? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
You might check this post. A key insight for gen 1 is that one of those two "bleed" valves is on the suction side of the pump and will draw air in when opened, if you're not careful. No particular need for techstream. The gen 1 pump runs whenever the key's on. -Chap
You don't need Techstream to fill the inverter coolant system And there are Youtube videos and other writeups to get you thru the burping. Good luck with getting the newer engine in. Kinda fascinated.
I always use a vacuum pump to pull it in a vacuum. If it holds, I just open a valve and it fills itself with no air bubbles.
That's right, if you're standing in front of the hood looking back at the car—but that's the opposite of the way 'left' and 'right' are used throughout the Repair Manual, etc., where they always mean 'left' and 'right' when facing the way the car is facing (that is, with the same meaning as 'port' and 'starboard', but I guess they didn't want to make the car sound like a boat). I called them "the nearer to the side of the car" (spew) and "the one nearer the center" (suck) to avoid any such confusion. -Chap
