Tonight I plugged in my 2017 Prime Advanced (1800 miles), like I always do, and checked the dashboard message display. It always says" Charge to Start at 9:15 pm" (I have it scheduled to start when rates are at their lowest). Today however, all it say is "Charge Port door Open" which is true, but no message confirming the scheduled 9:15 p.m. charge time. That's about 45 minutes from now. I have plugged and unplugged the charger and the handle to try to get it to display the scheduled charge message, but no luck. I know that sometimes I don't seat the charge handle well, so as a double-check, I open the car door and verify with the dash display the "Charge start time is 9:15 pm" (or something like that). If I don't see that message, then I re-seat the handle and then all is good. Not sure why tonight I cannot get it to display the scheduled charge time. I haven't touched any of the settings which turn on the charge at 9:15. The car has been in the 103 degree heat in the sun all day; maybe that's why?
OK... definitely had, and have, power to the charger. This morning I turned on the car and it showed a full charge. I am beginning to wonder if, not having driven the car yesterday, its prior-night's full recharge was the reason no charge "appointment" was displayed...?
If, when you plug it in, the battery is already fully charged, it refuses to set the timer, and instead gives the "Charge Port Door Open" message. This is the intended behavior.
I have plugged in my car with the provided charging cable when the battery is depleted, and received the Charge Port Door message. Unplugging and plugging in again produced the same results. I have also had similar issues at a ChargePoint station. Holding the brake and pressing the Start button, and then pressing it again corrected the issue. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
