    Just got it!!!

One silly question. I notice the car turns off in park while charging after 2 or 3 minutes, is there a way to change that?

    Yeehah! Congrats!

I don’t follow the situation you’re describing there. Can you expound upon it, or just rephrase it?

Yeah, I had the car plugged in and turned off, and then came back out an hour later to show my son the car. I turned the car on to show him some of the features, after about 2-3 minutes the car turned itself off (as if I had pressed the on\off button).

Are you sure it was "ON" and not in accessory mode? It will turn off from accessory mode to save battery life.

Lol, it probably was, especially since the AC was running. Still have more to learn on this thing.

I’m not immediately sure whether this matters, but was it still plugged in at the time?

I’d expect that, if you charge it up, drive it, charge it up again, drive it, etc., it will behave pretty intuitively for the most part. There might be some less-intuitive behavior when you’re in the car as it’s charging.

So apparently when it’s plugged in it will not be in READY mode for obvious reasons hence it will power off after a short while.

The AC compressor only runs in READY mode (the mode where if you press the accelerator pedal you will go somewhere). In ON mode only the fan will run, not the compressor. In ACC mode you pretty much have only radio and 12V outlet.

Based on your description you were probably in ON mode and just the fan was running. Per the manual the car should stay in ON mode for one hour before shutting off (20 minutes in ACC mode). Although I seem to remember some people reporting early on that the Prime shut off much earlier than the designated time. But I don't think it was 2-3 minutes. Maybe after turning it on you opened and closed the driver door for some reason? I think that might cause it to shut off within a few minutes if you do that and don't start the car.

Then again, in your understandable excitement of showing off your new car, unless you had a dash cam pointed at you there is no telling what you did :)

The first part for sure, it won't go into READY mode if the charge cable is connected, even if you aren't currently charging. And if it you connect the charge cable while in READY mode it will shut off the hybrid system.

As for ON mode turning off after a few minutes instead of an hour when you are charging, that's possible although I didn't see anything about that in the manual. But not everything gets documented.
