Hello all, New to forums and to the Prius platform. My family just purchase a 2008 Prius (base, package 5...nav, leather, jbl) I’m the “mechanic” in the family so want to check in and see what a typical 100K interval requires. I had the batteries tested at a local hybrid shop. (All charge/discharge normally. Capacity is about 70%. Original battery) I have read the following should be done...(any suggestions are appreciated) Spark plugs PCV Valve TB and MAF cleaning Tranny drain/fill Coolant drain/fill Oil change (Mobil 1 seems popular with this engine) Thanks all
Welcome to Prius Chat. Run your VIN through the Toyota owners web site to see if any of this was just done so you don't have to duplicate things that don't really have to be done.
congrats and welcome! plugs at 120k, and they are usually fine even then. check the pcv, it is probably fine. tb and maf a good idea. tranny, yes. coolant and other fluids (inverter, brake) at 120k, consider the water pump and belt. oil and filter every 5k. air and cabin filters at 30k and 15k respectively. check the 12v health. did you get two working fobs? try the manual keys now, and find the jump point in the fuse box under the hood. also the internal hatch release. all the best!
Where have you read that? Do you have the Toyota USA maintenance schedule? It's in the warranty booklet, and if you're missing that you can download a pdf from Toyota Tech Info, in the "manuals" section. @bisco's nailed most of the items. The couple of items not in the schedule, but worth considering: transaxle fluid change and brake fluid change. I did a spreadsheet of second gen US schedule, I'll attach. And here's a snapshot:
