Took a few minutes today to make some simple customizations - turn off start up music, add "go home" address (don't start!), door locks, etc. I was entering my home address and first the system couldn't find it, (you'll remember from my previous post that apparently I live in a field now!), then I pressed the back button, re-entered the address data starting from the city, then address, so far so good...then...system crash, 11.6" screen goes black, then reboot. Started over again and it took. Then went on to do the door lock changes...system crash, black screen, then reboot. The door lock changes were preserved. Ugh! Not sure what to make of this as it's never happened before. Basic customizable stuff that should not present problems - right? Anyone else crashing their system?

wow, just read that thread. not sure if my phone was plugged in or not. but that would be a deal breaker for me if the system crashed while my phone was plugged in. hope it's not why the system crashed. never had a problem like this with earlier prii.

Have you tried updating the software, or asking your Toyota dealer to do so?

Sure, will definitely request that the software is updated. I just got the car a week ago. Since it's a 2018, I've been assuming that the software is the most current version, but maybe it's not. Is there a way to tell what software version it's loaded with?

You didn't mention which Audio System you have. There doesn't seem to be a software update for 2018 11" screen versions (yet). Check with your dealer to be sure.

    I was checking here:

Yes. Press Menu > Settings > General > Software Update > Update, and check the reported version for Navigation. As of T-SB-0236-17 Rev1 in January, the latest version was R10A5530.
The securedp.toyota.com website is, unfortunately, not always a reliable source. I don’t know why Toyota chooses to make some updates available there and others not.

If the crashing is indeed due to an iPhone / USB power cable / Bluetooth conflict, then this data blocker interface should solve the problem because it blocks the data stream and turns the usb cable into a purely power cable.

Not sure how to check which Audio System the car has. My new R2Pre2 is a 2018 Prime Advanced like yours. Is it found by checking the software version (Menu > Settings > General > Software Update > Update) so helpfully detailed by Elektroingenieur?

Since you have the Advanced you have the 11" JBL version and according to the web site there is no software update. At least not
one published to the general public.

Just wondering, were your car plug-in and was charging at that moment?

What was the health of the 12V and the HV when you bought it?

    That’s somewhat shocking!

On my 17 I have noticed difficulties and then after leaving for a while, ( days) things start working. Perhaps some slow self rebooting after initial attempt failed.

Yea. "Intermittent Rebooting" gets listed twice in the same screenshot #2. 3 times total.

I think my phone was plugged in to the usb power cable, but can't be sure. (My iPhone is not compatible with the charging pad.)

Many thanks - so thoughtful for you to post this!! :):)

When I bought it? Fully charged. When the crashing occurred? 75% charged.

How did you go about determining those levels?

I looked at the charge meters on the display. Please clarify your question if this is not what you are referring to. Thanks!

Just saw a similar thread in the Prime Audio / Electronics forum: 11 inch screen in Advanced is rebooting at an alarming rate | PriusChat

Actually I meant did you or the dealer or a 3rd party actually measure the charge on the 12V, and did you stand by and watch?
On the HV, it’s even more complicated and they’ll either not want to check or, more likely charge you to check.
What I’m saying is, we are only taking the Dealers word, on a new car.

"No" to the actual measuring and "no" to standing by and watching. Didn't even know that was something I should have done. Is this a thing now?

It’s probably a thing that we all should be doing. When there is any iny indicator that is not actually a numerical value, one cannot really state that its full. If the 12V was charged because the dealer ran the battery all the way down, which they do (out of ignorance) then the future life of the 12V can be severely
shortened. As you may know, in some ways the 12V is more important than the HV.

I need to take the car in for dealer customizations (reverse beep, etc.). Can the charging values and potential damage to the 12V be determined retroactively when I go back to the dealership? What specifically do I ask for?
