I had mine replaced in Ohio last year under a 15 yr unlimited mileage warranty according to the dealer. SM-G920V ?
So yours failed while driving? If so, were you able to limp home or were you stranded? Were you aggressively pressing the gas pedal when it failed?
I was not driving it when it happened. I doubt driving style was a major factor in the long run. I drove it home about 5 miles in limp home mode with warning lights on then had it towed to the dealer from my house after taking a look at it. SM-G920V ?

I wonder how Toyota "secretly, without [his] knowledge, allowed the car to be sold for salvage despite [his] repeated requests both on the phone and in correspondence to save the same two units on my car."

A1b: Fail-Safe Mode is a form of vehicle self-protection (also known as Limp-Home Mode). When the vehicle’s self-diagnostic system determines a possible malfunction, the hybrid control system may reduce vehicle power to minimize potential component damage. The vehicle is still drivable, but you will notice a reduction in available vehicle power and speed. If this condition occurs, the vehicle should be immediately taken to an authorized Toyota Dealer for appropriate diagnosis and repair. "vehicle self protection" "minimize potential component damage" "reduction is power and speed"
Know the Truth Make your Own Decision on Safety THE DEFECTIVE TOYOTA PRIUS HYBRID INVERTER - ToyotaTalk
Glad I bought a 15. I’d really like to know what Toyota changed in the 15 inverters but I’ve not been able to find out what the difference is.
Makes me consider trying to find the part number for the 15 inverter when I hit 150k and need to change my fluid and just go ahead and swap. But yeah Toyota isn't going to recall about 750,000 cars when the failure of 800 cars works out to about .1% failure rate currently. More than likely none of us in this thread will even experience a failure. *fingers crossed* but its still possible of course. The older the car gets the failure rate will get higher and then Toyota may take action.
Another "software update"??? Claremont dealership refuses to sell some Toyota Prius models over safety recall | abc7.com
It is rather disappointing that they don't own up to this. I'm not sure this is the type of press Toyota wants at this juncture with increasing competition and all. I'm wondering if Toyota might lose some loyalty over this if it continues to be a problem? As for the eventual 'fix'...I hope this software update doesn't further degrade performance. From what I've read some folks are convinced that the first software 'fix' did degrade performance. However, that opinion seems to be debatable.
i don't think toyota cares much. with the cash rolling in from suv's and etc., prius is a pimple on their butt.
