It’s hot in CA why does fan take forever to kick on after starting car?

Since it’s been getting warmer in Los Angeles I’ve remembered what a pain it is for the AC fan to kick on after pushing the ignition. Why does it take close to 10 seconds for the fan to start blowing? I’ve been filling edited of my driveway down the road until it kicks on. 2 others have mentioned it to me in my car. Is this something Carista can take care of with the “Fan speed reaches its target” option? Thanks guys

If you have it set to AUTO it will take a few seconds for the fan to get up to speed, depending on your temperature setting. Taking it out of AUTO "should" let the fan speed up to whatever you have it set for. Don't know if it will be instantaneous or not. I just leave mine in AUTO, the slight delay doesn't bother me.

I have noticed in my truck (2004 Toyota Tacoma) that when i turn the AC on it takes 10-15 seconds for the AC to start blowing cold. im assuming the car is smart enough to account for this so the AC can catch up and not blow hot air at you instantly.

Exactly. People unfamiliar with Toyota's perceive this as a problem. Those that are accustomed to it, get really annoyed at other makes when renting those.

When it is hot out, and you say "gimme cold!" the car gets the AC ready then slowly ramps up the fan to the speed it needs. Similarly when its cold out and you want heat, nothing comes out until the engine is warm, not even fan. It doesn't make sense to blow cold air at you when you say heat.

it would be nice if the rear camera came on when you've put it into reverse, instead of after you have already backed up.

My A/C at home is like that - at least my newer one. To COOL, it opens the vents, and the outside unit blows through the condensor almost immediately, but it's about 20-30 seconds before I get cool air blowing inside. If it's on HEAT, it's about 50 seconds when it starts gently blowing, about a minute before it gives full air-flow.

It's to pre-heat/pre-cool it to stop it blowing HOT when you want COLD, and COLD when you want HEAT - which is what the old big unit in the living room does (it's getting pensioned off next Thursday!!)

hes typing sarcastically. he means it takes so long for the infotainment system to boot up he's already done his backing up by the time the image comes on the screen.

i just use that term instead of "the 7" screen in your 2017 prime plus or 11.6" screen in premium/advanced and all 2018 primes."

Oh - I've not really noticed it - I press POWER as I get in, shut door, then seatbelt, glance at mirrors, put in gear and it's usually ready by then. He must be quicker than me!!! I just timed it - it's about 7-8 seconds.

Gen 4 won't engage a gear for maybe 5 seconds or so - comes up with upload_2018-6-5_10-56-41.png if you try and says "shifting unavailable" or something like that.

Yep - I think there's a ready light - but I suspect it comes on while I'm belting up, closing doors etc - just occasionally I hit R or D before it's ready.
