How much electric distance are the Primes getting?

    Good for you man. When I first got the car, I was able to get 34.9 miles twice. But since then, my max has been just over 33. That’s about where I think my prime has “settled” into. My commute to work is 35.6 miles. Still trying to figure out how I can boost the EV only range a couple more miles. I’ll report back if I ever do. Lol

    Well Nissan doesn't keep the pack thermally managed and it impacts the degradation speed immensely. There are dozens if not hundreds of examples over on the Leaf forum (mynissanleaf) if you are interested. I'm not doing the leg work for you on what is a pretty well known fact in the EV community. At the opposite end of the spectrum, Tesla's have experienced very minimal degradation. Lots of crowdsourced spreadsheets out there to prove that as well. Not hard to find with a little Googling.

    It gave me a taste for EV driving and I sold it for a '13 Volt. Did I get while the gettin was good?o_O

    I have a bank courier buddy with 600k and 400k on two different Gen2 and now +500k miles on a Gen 3!!
    He goes as long as 20k mile oil changes in the summer and always uses Mobil 1.
    He cleans out the EGR circuit when it gets bad and has changed out just two old-school Ni-Mh cells in one of the cars at a cost of $80.
    With proper maintenance,,, they just won't die!!

    Where did you come up with this 150-200k mile figure? (n) What happens next?o_O
    Are you are selling these cars short. :D

    >>Prime warms the pack??? I thought it only had a dinky fan for cabin air... HOW does it warm the pack?

    why don't you visit the prime forums to get answers to your questions, instead of asking the same questions over and over.
    a couple of examples has nothing to do with average car life, and you cannot define a point when a car is not worth repairing, it is a personal decision.

    i have read it here somewhere, but i don't know how it works.

    the engineers have to figure out how to get a large percentage of cars beyond warranty, while the bean counters figure out how not to get them much farther.

    I googled it and I was directed back to Priuschat and I found out prime battery pack heating is accomplished by two heating strips are using up to 1400W.

    I'm getting about 33 miles per charge the first 1000 miles . Haven't used any gas yet. Need to take a longer trip to use some as my daily commute is about 20 miles.

    A quick update since my last post. For those who didn’t see my other ramblings, here goes. I have achieved 36+ miles so far and have been able to drive to work on full electric. Even better news, the landlord or my building will be installing an external 120 or 220V port. So will be able to charge at work now pretty soon. Excited!

    Tell the landlord that 240v costs are similar to adding a 120v. And doing both is just slightly more giving workers options. But 120v only won't do anybody any good a year or so in the future as capacities and needs increase.

    Just did 37 miles pure EV the other day. After charging overnight range went up. Like it!

    OK, just to add to the good list of experiences in this thread here's mine:

    This is Canadian issue 2018 Advanced model with a February build date (had it since March 21).

    With AC on, the range actually drops to 59 km but so far I am extremely impressed with its efficiency. By the way, I never managed to get less than 20Kwh/100km on my 2014 Model S and keeping a sustained 11Kwh/100km with AC use in the Prime just blows my mind every time I think about it.

    63Km is just little over 39 Miles of range and more than suits my daily commuting needs of ~25 KM per day. It appears a second Prime may join my personal "fleet" soon. ;)

    Maybe this is because the Prime is ~ half the weight, half the tire size, half the total aero drag, 1/8 th the EV power - compared to a Model S?

    Really? 2 of the same PHEV?o_O

    Don't you miss having the "EV Jerk" of acceleration with such a limited PHEV?:)

    Some PHEV's allow the full EV Power to be used - without the smelly gasser firing up!
    And you only have to change the oil every 2 yrs if it's mainly EV miles. (not 10k miles - regardless)
    These other PHEV's also have much longer range which keeps that smelly gasser in hibernation for longer periods of time.(y)

    Yep, that's why some call me the EV Jerk !

    Just saying it's funny a Model S owner is into a limited PHEV, when there are full featured PHEV's that will give you that EV Jerk.

    I am getting more than the expected range. And I also noticed that the expected range right after a charge has increased.
    Day 1: expected range = 25.1 (actual distance unknown, I plugged in several times)
    Day 2: expected range = 27.2 (actual distance about 30 miles)
    Day 3: expected range = 29.4 (actual distance about 35 miles)

    Is the battery gaining capacity, or is the car learning how I drive and increasing the accuracy of the estimate?
