Looking at purchasing a 2015 that has come off lease that was originally put into service in California. I live in South Carolina and that is where the car will be driven. Would the extended California battery warranty be valid in South Carolina since it’s a California car?

There were a few legal challenges back a few years, due to vague wording in 2006 vintage Prius Warranty Guide. So now if you look at the WMG guidelines, it is more clearly stated. The first (Toyota-specific) requirement is you must live in a CARB state, which SC is not. If you lived in MD, that would be a different story.
I'm thinking in 10 years 2015-2025, batteries would be fairly inexpensive so it'll probably be very affordable
