IIRC the Plexiglass Panoramic roof on the Prius+ was lighter than the steel roof.

Is there another place where this gif is located? Other animated gifs have worked before.

That's not a gif, it's a jpg. I abandoned trying to load the gif below. One's using the image insert from this site, and the other is using the BB code from imgur. BTW, you'll notice it successfully loaded into my media area.

Ohh ok. Well then a jpg won't animate.

Oddly enough, both images are animating in my quotes as I type this reply.

Copy and paste from GIPHY. I first tried copying the links from GIPHY - but worked when I Rt-clicked, "copy image" and pasted it into PriusChat.

The sunroof in my 2012 mdx gets stuck maybe 15% of the time. Every time I open it I just cross my fingers that it will close whenever I'm ready.

    SM-N910P ?

For what it's worth, Toyota doesn't call it a "sunroof"; it calls it a "moonroof."

I have the 2017 Technology Edition (Canadian), that comes with a "moonroof". If I leave it open when I turn off the car, there is a warning on screen that says "Moonroof is open". I suppose that's to prevent leaving it open when parked, if rain is expected.

Cars.com explains the difference between a "sunroof" and a "moonroof": "A sunroof is typically a solid body-colored panel that can manually tilt up or be removed. A sunroof is an opaque metal panel, and you can't see through it. From the outside, it looks like a body-colored metal panel.
A moonroof is a type of sunroof, except that it’s a transparent, sliding, tinted glass panel. This panel is not removable.

Sunroof has become pretty much an umbrella term for all types of roof openings, including not only the original traditional metal tilting removable panels but also the more modern sliding glass panels, which are often referred to as moonroofs although calling them a sunroof is not incorrect either. That being said, using whatever terminology a particular manufacturer uses can help avoid confusion.

Ditto. I gave up years ago. Americans prefer to use the umbrella term of sunroof to refer to either solid or glass (and if I'm lucky, I'll see glass sunroof).

It used to be critical when both versions were offered but right now, the universal option is the glass one... so moonroof.

As a car guy, I will continue to use the correct or closest term (cause sometimes there isn't always one "correct" answer) in my conversation.

    Yep I agree.
I don't think I can ever recall anyone ever ask me if my car has a moon roof.

Yes, a geographic terminology - TOYOTA call it a Moonroof here in the manual, but nobody else calls it such here - they're Sunroofs. Not that they offer either here on PRIUS, thankfully.

But TOYOTA is a bit into dabbling with local terminology - trying to force words like Gasoline and Tyres on us too. Our manual doesn't tell us how to open the BONNET. Eventually you'll find how by reading the whole 543 pages that they call it a "HOOD".

English in Japan tends to follow US English so.. eco is pronounced "echo" lol.

But yeah Toyota has always called the glass ones moonroof (even back in the 90s).

I know petrol and bonnet but what word do you use instead of tires?

I guess how it's pronounced depends on whether you think of the Eco as being economical or ecological ;)

Oh okay just the spelling. I thought maybe another word was used that would cause potential confusion like bonnet/hood, whereas tyre/tire doesn't seem confusing. Similar to colour/color and grey/gray. Even though us yanks spell it wrong you can still understand us :D
