First time purchasing Hybrid, I need your help.

If you are in LA and can find a 17 Prius with $4500 off, then your final price after Federal tax credit and CA rebate your price would be less than 20k, and Edision might give you $500 as well. I don't see why Prius two is the best value. Don't hesitate, 17 models are running out and next year is unpredictable.

The Prius Two has a spare tire that the One and Prime Plus lack. Just another point to consider.

 

With cars you gotta do some analysis, and throw in some personal wants, to reach a great conclusion. So what is your commute like--which vehicle will be cheaper to operate? Then think about the personal wants--which car do you like the best--looks, features, satisfaction? Personal wants mean a lot--because if you plan to keep this car for 10 or more years, you gotta be happy with it. For me, the decision was easy--I went for the Prime Advanced. For my commute, it saves the most money (I charge at work, so no gas used to and from) when compared to a Prius, and the extra features (HUD is my fav) mean that I am much more likely to keep it long term.

I drove up to DC to Jim Coleman Toyota and got a great deal on a 2017--with a $3000 rebate and $3000 off the sticker.....plus later I get the $4500 federal tax credit.

Whatever you decide don't buy a car you don't want. I bought a car once and it was missing options I knew I wanted but bought it anyway.
It was a good car but didn't have a problem when I let it go. It was a black car with no A/C, dumB.

I was not sure if anyone is planning to use the car to drive for Uber, but I think (I could be totally wrong) that Uber cars need at least 5 seats (need 4 passenger seats plus driver)? Prime only has 4 seats, FYI. but to me those 4 seats seem plenty spacious and comfortable.

Financially, Prime Plus seems to be the best value. I was also amazed how efficient it was when I drove Prime to skiing resorts last winter as it kept charging downhill and switching to EV automatically even when I was driving 70+mph and ended up 74mpg for 380mile round trip. I don't know about regular Prius, but Prime continues to amaze me. If you do urban driving with your second job, you would appreciate the bigger buttery on Prime.

No only Prime eligible for federal tax credit. I believe you can find a 2017 Prius Prime Premium for $4000+ off sticker price now.

 

I think Prime is eligible for HOV sticker too in CA.

Federal tax credit only returns to those who pay the tax. But CA is just opposite. It is a f**king joke that you cannot get it with higher family income. It doubles for those who don't pay tax

 

Also take a loot at Clarity? Lowest base model in Southern CA was $29.9k. You can squeeze out 60 miles when warm if you mainly drive in town.
