I am driving 6 hours to pick up my queen tempurpedic mattress. Dont want to take the truck which gets 14 mpg... will it fit in the back with the rear seats folded down? I can buy a mattress bag and have ratchet straps to compress it and don't mind it hanging out the tail up to 2 feet. Conjecture and guesses are welcome but please be honest in your posts, has any one actually tried this with any memory foam mattress on a gen 2? Thanks
Any reason you have to drive 6 hours to get the mattress? As someone who used to make memory foam (what the temper material is) it compresses easily and we used to have a rolling machine to get as many in the truck as possible. I’d take the ratchet straps and bag to avoid any issues with fitment on your trip.
It's in my other house up for sale that just went into escrow. I have to travel up there anyway for other reasons, I hope I don't get there and it doesn't fit
The mattress is all you have left to haul? If you have the straps and bag, you should be fine. We used to roll them and shrink wrap them until the weight limit was reached on the semi. You could fit a lot more that way then just layin them flat .
How used is it? 3-4 years old,so much use, sweat, don’t bother, newish, grab a cheap strap system, 11/2” or less roll it and cinch it in steps, slide it in.
