Nevermore. I used to use one when I was in Honduras. One day, the fob for our truck managed to escape its captivity on the ring attached to the 'biner as I walked across the 200-yard field between the radio station and our house. Several of us looked for that fob for two days. Never found it.

LOL! We have the opposite problem. My wife likes to carry fob #2 with her. Then, she doesn't want to lug her purse when we get where we're going, so she puts it in the cargo area under the cover. Naturally, she forgets the key in there and dashes off inside while I plug in the car if possible. Then I try to lock the car and end up having to fish the fob out of her purse. Now, I try to always remember to ask her if she has it before she puts that purse in the back.

Mr. JerryMildred regarding your missing fob: just use Entune to find it! Har, har(although maybe, new "locator" technology?)
I do have to get a quality carabiner that stays closed (when it gets old), so that keys don't come loose. The nice thing is that my keys and fob are accessible and not buried in a pocket. Also is convenient when servicing car to give fob to mechanic.

You can find your fob with Entune?! If so, them maybe it might be worth something after all. But I don't think that would have worked for a 1998 Nissan Frontier. LOL!! And it wasn't the carabiner that failed. It was the ring holding the fob to the 'biner. I'm pretty active and having the keys dangling like that will lead to all kinds of snags. I did that at the radio station because there were simply too many keys to have them inside a pocket.

After getting my first Prius I installed a combination push button lock on the house door I don't have to reach for a key coming or going.

Well you know what they say about the weakest link, in this case it's the weakest ring!

A proximity device, where a house lock would respond by springing open the door for you when you're carrying a bunch of junk. Now that would be a cool toy! Once inside, you could lock the door with a "conventional", quality dead-bolt lock!
