I am planning a long trip of over 1000+ miles by the end of June 2018. I have to buy a spare Wheel + Tire.(15") for Prius Prime 2017 Advanced. Can you guys please recommend. I have read few threads recommending Michelin Defender T+H, are there other suggestions. For now I just need to buy one Tire + Wheel. Wheel has too many choices. Does anyone know, the Wheel Model and Make for Prius Prime Advanced 2017.
This is the 15" steel rim I used for snow tires on 3rd gen, they were about $70 apiece through dealership: Corolla steel rim, part no: 42611-02471 (2003-2008 corolla or matrix, CE, LS, S)

Do both of those have the same lug pattern as a Prime? Are they the same height as the stock 15” tires that come on the Prime?
Maybe a dumb question, but these have different aspect ratios. The frs is 80 and the prius is 70. How do both of these fit the prime?
Good question, but you needed to dig a bit further... When you click on both links, go to: "View Original Item". When you do that, you'll see that both are 135/80/16 in size. A 135/80/16 is 24.8" in overall diameter making it a perfect choice not only in sizing but also in load capability. Rob43
Compact spare is lighter and narrower than full size spare, but for a PRIME without dedicated compact spare storage space, it is not much of space saver when you have to carry it in the trunk. You also have to come up with clever way to secure it onto the deck which is not easy. If you don't have passenger on the rear seat, full size tire will fit perfectly snug behind front seat. Being much wider, it is much more securely wedged into the place than a narrower compact spare. Added bonus is that the full size tire will not have max 50 miles at 50mph limitation of the compact tire. For this reason, I carry full size spare with mine.
IIRC the Prime nixes the D-rings along the back wall of the hatch? I wonder if the weld nuts for the D-rings are sitll there, albeit submerged?
Humm, I never explored that option. I think the felt-like lining material that covers the deck and wall of the trunk is glued on. I don't even know where to look for the weld point.
I have a feeling that PRIME's cargo floor being raised higher than the hatch threshold, the decking material is not solid at all. Edit: I found this thread showing very nice PRIME mod to add D rings in the deck. D-Rings added to Prime cargo area... | PriusChat However, I am still not sure if they are strong enough to hold the spare tire down securely. In any case it will take up too much flat floor space, I'd rather use the rear seat foot well that is not used for anything else.
