We currently a 2008 Prius and have really like it so we are getting a 2018 Prius in the next few days. The 'One' looks perfectly fine to me. Is the Protection Package or Preferred Accessory package worth getting? A lot of cars around here kind of annoyingly already have these installed. This One has no spare tire, can I put the spare from my 2008 in there (and will it fit the 2018 wheel!)? Its interesting how this model has no spare tire and no rear wiper like the Two Eco. So shouldn't it get a little of the better mileage benefit? Its interesting that its curb weight is the same as the regular Two, did they replace the spare tire with something that weighs just as much or something?
welcome! the 1 is not usually for sale, fleet only. it likely does not have the lithium battery does it have cc?
Toyota USA introduced (or reintroduced) level 1 a while back, not just as a special fleet purchase, but generally available. There's a page in the fourth gen main forum listing the various levels, it should list the differences, between level "1" and the others. I'd link it, but I'm having a hard time with the website right now, can't see to go to the front page. Anyway, my take, just after quickly looking at Toyota USA brochure: level 1 loses the spare and the rear wiper? And maybe more, not sure. For me, no spare would be no sale. https://www.toyota.com/content/ebrochure/2018/prius_ebrochure.pdf Your call regarding "protection package and/or "preferred accessory package", research them, check the cost.
Ok ok, lol: I do rant on. Still, I hate to see someone go through the purchase process, and then find out there's no spare.
I'm with you - only car I bought without a spare, I bought the optional spare (FORD Fiesta) - then 3 months later, discover it was then included as standard.
Yeah sort of tossup in terminology due to the unusual history of the level one vehicles in Gen 3 and Gen 4. When the Gen 3 was rolled out in model year 2010 there were four trim levels, II, III, IV and V. Roman numerals were used that model year only, prior to the introduction of the Prius v (lowercase) wagon in model year 2011. Prius I was planned for release later in the 2010 model year, however Toyota later decided that Prius I would only be available for fleet. Gen 4 rolled out in model year 2016 with six trim levels, Two, Two Eco, Three, Three Touring, Four and Four Touring. Then halfway through model year 2017 Prius One was added to the lineup, around the same time that BSM, RCTA, ICS, IPA were added at no charge to trim levels Two or above (except Eco) if they didn't have it already.
IMHO, considering the reliability of Toyota in general and Prius in particular, the protection package (I am assuming by this you are talking about some kind of extended warranty beyond what is given as default by Toyota) is probably not worth the price.
Adaptive cruise control, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, lane keeping assist - essential, IMO. Rear wiper, not so much - doesn't do anything useful for my 2018. Spare- I've used one maybe 4 times since 1960.
Well I went ahead and bought one yesterday! Love this car so far. First, the One is insanely inexpensive if you do internet negotiating. I got it for $21,491 before title/tag/tax which is somehow less than we bought our 2008 Prius for ten years ago (without adjusting for inflation). I think the difference between the One and Two is no spare tire, no seat back pockets, and no rear wiper. The pockets whatever, the rear wiper I never liked anyway, and as for the spare tire we never used it in ten years with our 2008 so maybe we are not in a flat-prone area. And I'm hoping the spare on our 2008 will fit our 2018, I'll report back. I think the One is kind of like the Two Eco except without the lithium battery pack. I really like how even the One has the full Toyota safety TSS-P package. Oh, and the car only came with the bumper decal so I didn't have to worry about the dealer options. I took at 60 mile trip today and got 72mpg there and 63mpb back. Wow.
I think it'll fit, BUT: the OD will be less, possibly enough to throw a code. Also, that spare is 10 years old: verify the rim fits, but put on a fresh tire, the 4th gen spec?
Yes, you get the stainless steel bumper protection trim and I also got the rubber boot (trunk) liner which I have left in the car since new. Just had a look now and you don't get the boot liner anymore, its a £60 extra, but the price is only £250 for the pack whereas I paid £300, so a £10 increase in price.
