I do have a good neighborhood mechanic. He has helped with the headlights, oil changes and road checks in the past. He admitted he doesn't know a lot about hybrids, but was going to work on learning more.

I do all my filters and wipers, as the dealership wants nearly 3x for this.

Again, I have an appt to go see Todd tomorrow. I hope to learn simple added maintenance as well as a good knowledgeable check up.

I'm so glad this website and this group of people are out here - thank you!!

I really like the wiper blade refills from Toyota. Much much much much better than anything I've ever gotten from an auto parts store. If you have the OEM wiper blade arms, the refills are only about 8 or 9 dollars each and not hard to replace. There are youtube videos to get you started.

And tell Todd that Jerry Petersen said HI! :D

Always a good idea with him. But she did say she had an appointment. Todd keeps them if at all possible.

Yes I'm insane. Clearwater to Courtney to Kennedy everyday. But I'm off clock a little which really helps 11-7PM.

But no 275. No way. Its stopped everyday.

As I've lived here for 50 yrs, yes the traffic is INSANE on our bridges, so I hit the road around 12.15p and got to Todds Tampa Hybrid in about 35 mins and I did go 275, even if I don't like to. The 2 guys that worked with me where great and didn't talk down to a woman asking questions - YEAH. They plugged the car into a computer tablet and NO codes, NO nothing. Another YEAH. She is in good shape. They explained to me what they offer in the way of the battery packs, new and used, and cost difference. I learned it is not the mileage, it's the age, which mine is getting up there, so I will be needed to watch for changes, as I have been. The issue I had was normal, even though I hadn't seen the charging system do that in 2+ yrs of driving. Just like a doctors office, you feel like crap, make an appt and you get there you are 100+ fine.

I learned how to do a few things on my own that dealership can over charge for (back battery fan cleaning). I learned that I should use Toyota recommended coolant and that the 5000m oil change is OK, just watch levels as the car may need to be topped off in between changes. My tune up will be after my AL trip or the 100,000 m mark. I have 2 water pumps, which was enlightening.

My car must have had a fender bender as one front light assembly was definitely newer than the other, so for $40 fee, they cleaned the other one. It was worth it seeing the difference at night and for all the information they gave me. I was home by 2.30. As some have said, I'm lucky to have Todd and his business near by.

Thank you again for your feedback and support.

Glad to know you got what you needed and survived the trip. :) I have several similar stories I could tell about Todd. His knowledge and patience are pretty amazing.

From my experience your battery is most likely out of balance and may have a weak module. If you catch if before a cell goes bad in the module and use the prolong system we have had very good luck extending battery life and restoring fuel mileage. Wont bore you with the specifics why. If you already have a bad cell then you will need replace the bad modules. Yes they can be rebuilt reliably. We have one of the largest if not the largest OEM rebuilder near me. Last time I talked to them they had around 13000 toyota and Nissan batteries. After rebuilding ( get their cores straight from toyota and Nissan) they are sold to our resellars hence what ypur getting as remanufactured at autozone, oreilys etc etc. I am a very small rebuilder and only do a few a week and knock on wood have had no complaints. All I can say is find someone reliabl. If they are charging you $900 and a 5 year warrenty just walk away. Its to go to be true. 1 or 2 yr warrenty yes. Even Dorman doesnt offer 3 yr anymore only 1 year. Hope it helps. Listen to some of the guys on hear they are a wealth of knowledge and I am still learning. I know its long but hope it helps.
