1st E-Supercharged Prius Build, WIP/doesn't work......

Well...who wants to go in on it and split our time with it

I'm still very skeptical that it will actually work since it says no tuning needed and we've seen how the Prius closes the throttle when it detects boost...I'm guessing it doesnt do much unles they can post that dyno sheet.

 

Will it pass inspection though.

 

Wonder if it comes with a tweaked ECU? If Toyota sponsored the build, it’s possible that they modified the Ecu to allow boost.

Some pictures of the Instagram guy in Thailand with the turbo Prius. He these to me in a DM.

He also sent a video of the car under boost but it disappeared? From what I could see he had a check engine light on and was hammering the throttle, would hit about a pound of boost then it would go back to vacuum, he did it a few times.

 

So it shuts down when it hits boost...basically it's a no go?

If you watch the video he posted you can see what I'm talking about. He's at vacuum, hits zero pressure and gets about a pound of boost before it stops. Unless every video he sends he just taps the throttle and lets go as soon as the car gets some power...

Earlier in this thread this was the exact same issue others were running into. Everything works just fine, but once the ECU see's positive pressure it seems to shut right off.

 

No one is gonna build 1 pound of boost for a ig video. Has to be an a no go (hope I'm wrong)

He’s attempted Nitrous and now this. No mention of actual gains. Turbo video of building boost does seem to cut after 1psi - seems to be a no go either.

Either way tho I'm hoping the super charger some how is legit

 

I talked to him on the phone. He said it works with six pounds of boost on the stock ECU. The supercharger is belt driven off of whatever accessory is on the left.of the engine bay.

There was no engine tuning done, which does not give me confidence that it will actually work. No one has ever seen it running before. But he says it makes 70 more horsepower and gives an mpg gain.

I'm tempted to try it, but based on everything I've seen in this thread, as soon as we hit boost it's going to crap out.

Anyone have ideas?

 

Try it. Its relatively inexpensive for what ur getting especially if u do it urself

 

Hate to break bad news for everybody. The OP's car has been sold and the Electric supercharger was taken off for obvious reasons.

He is now a proud Owner of a Tesla!
