Pack was ready to go but kept throwing codes. Cleaned up the corrosion and no more codes! Put dielectric grease on them too before I snapped them back into the plastic. Any more questions give me a shout. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I plan to perform a buss-bar cleaning and coating as a preventative maintenance procedure as soon as life allows.
Use one of these: a crimped wire cup bush attached to a drill. Take each copper plate out of the orange plastic pieces and brush away the corrosion. Don't worry about soaking them in anything. It won't get you the results you want. After brushing the corrosion, use dielectric grease to keep corrosion away. Hold them with needle nose pliers. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Any opinion on using this stuff on the terminals of the cell and where they contact the busbar? Ox-Gard Anti-Oxidant Compound | Gardner Bender I did this after cleaning the busbars thoroughly and no more warning lights. I'm trying to decide if I should have just left the contact areas bare.
It's excellent for this application. Dielectric grease is great for sealing connections & contacts. But this stuff takes it a step further -- it's actually conductive, whereas dielectric grease is non-conduction (that's what dielectric means). Either is a good choice, but IMHO, Ox-Gard is a better choice.
