Code:P0A80 but each modules are showing good voltage

    Hi guys,

    I bought a Prius gen2 last year with no problems at all but until yesterday the Christmas tree and other warning lights come up.

    I checked the code which comes with P3000, P0A80, and P30012, which obviously there is a problem with the performance of the Hybrid Battery's Block Vol.2.
    However, when I check the individual cells today, I found out that there are no any outliers with 28 modules' voltage.

    They range from 8.07~8.13, which seems there isn't a problem with the battery.
    Then, I also saw some corrosions on some of the connectors.
    I also checked the 12v battery which has 12.8v with no load and 11.8~9v under load
    Any ideas with it?

    Do I have to clean all the connectors and try to place it back again? What cleaner should i use to clean those connectors?

    Is there a chance that I have got a bad 12v battery or bad battery ECU?

    Checking sitting voltage is meaningless really. You have to put a load on each module and see how it holds. You have a soft module maybe make that modules. Corrosion must be cleaned or replaced or repaired. Of course it has to be cleaned. Its alot of work.

    Thanks for the reply!

    Can I use a 6v ligh bulb to test underload situation? Or a 12v light bulb is better?

    Also, Should i use vingear and salt to clean the connections?

    Let your HV battery rest for a week and take the voltage readings again. I'm pretty sure you'll see the bad module(s) stick out like a sore thumb. You'll most likely see voltages around 7.6v and the bad ones will be much lower than that.

    If you have an original 2004 battery, anything you're doing to "fix" it will be short lived. The battery is 14 years old. Your modules will all fail, 1 at a time until you get frustrated and give up on your car. Best thing to do is to get a NEW battery or a New Car.
