    and soooooo . . . . . . . .
when will ChargePoint begin to "lead the pack" so to speak .... introducing a tesla charging head. After all, the Model 3, as well as several of the S's & S's are now 'not-free' on the supercharger network. I hear rumors that EVGO is underway with THEIR tesla nozzel ....
So Chargepoint - do we hear anything in this regard but crickets? The gauntlet has been thrown down.
    ;)

I'd be happy to help provide more info if possible! However, do you mind clarifying so that I might better understand your question? Are you referring to something other than the J1772 adapter that is available for Tesla, or are you suggesting that a Tesla-specific nozzle would be more helpful vs. the existing adaptor?

Ah-ha ... I see Chargepoint's point. Since Tesla was proactive with manufacturing adapters that work w/ the varying/different charge standards already, if a company like ChargePoint only decides to manufacture SAE & CHAdeMO nozzles, then Tesla can simply build their own adapters, albeit a $400 cost to the Tesla owner.
That's an intriguing philosophy, considering that a pure Ev invariably prefers to DC QC, because you don't have to wait around for multiple hours to complete a charge - it just takes a few minutes to charge instead.
Perhaps EVgo is considering a $400 cost for an adapter is a lot of money ..... & guessing, as the nations largest network that people would prefer to spend that $400 on charging, & simply have another nozzle already installed on the dc qc charger - so that the car owner doesn't have to bear the brunt of that large adapter expense, & patronize the charger company accordingly.
Of course, the best benefit is, if you own a i3, or bolt or other SAE or CHAdeMO car .... The owner isn't stuck waiting for the tesla to add 50, 70, or 90 kWh's or more power to their car, because the charger companies we're proactive with their units & their nozzels - and can simultaneously charge all all 3 major formats .
Baah - crazy talk, what do I know, it's just a thought.

Also, in case anyone happens to need the info - Tesla sells the J1772 for $95, though it's already included with each Model 3

    From Tesla
    Standard Accessories
    • 240 volt NEMA 14-50 adapter
    • 120 volt NEMA 5-15 adapter
    • J1772 public charging adapter
    • 20 foot mobile connector with storage bag

That slower charger speed is correct, but the Quick Charge adaptor is $400. I'll bet that Tesla owners would rather patronize chargepoint with that $400 rather than purchase an adapter simply because there were no nozzles that fit their car as a native format. Certainty all owners prefer to charge at 50kWh rather than 3 or 6kWh.

    In ChargePoint News...

    A ChargePoint sighting on TV!
The HBO show Silicon Valley continued its fifth season with an exciting showdown between a Tesla Model S and some strange "EV" the character got off Craigslist. :D Pied Piper employees got EV charging at work (ChargePoint, of course) and we loved watching Gilfoyle and Dinesh battle over getting the most convenient spot. Luckily, ChargePoint can charge... whatever it is that Gilfoyle is driving in this pic....

Being included in the show means not only that EVs have gone mainstream enough to be included as a major plot point in a popular TV show, but tt was also rewarding to see a real-world (okay, TV-world) use case for a feature we developed in direct response to customer needs—and our own needs, too (our Waitlist feature). It’s also exciting to see our work on the big screen sometimes and know that our product has “made it” in a different way. Our appearance on the show was not a paid product placement. :)
