I really love the Gen 4 body, as soon as I saw it I knew I would own one and now I do. Please tell us your initial thoughts when you get time, we love details, especially if this is your first Prius. :-D

 

I wouldn't be to sure it's inherent. Mention to the dealership, maybe air i pockets in the lines?? Maybe others with fourth gen will weigh in; but with our 3rd gen I have no complaints: the brakes have solid, linear feel.

What specific Honda was that? Note if you calculate the Prius mpg you'll likely find it exaggerates. Our previous car (06 Civic Hybrid) had very honest display of mpg. It couldn't match the Prius for sure, but at least the display was accurate.

Change the Drive Mode to PWR instead of ECO. I use Normal mode because Eco is too sluggish, especially with the cruise control.
You can control ECO mode for the climate control separate from drive Mode.

FWIW, I drive our old Civic Hybrid once in a long while, and I wouldn't say it's peppier, more like the throttle pedal is just too hair-trigger, hard to modulate. It tends to jump on take-off, bit of a pain.

You'll get used to the brakes, they are different - as they're barely ever working like a "normal" car - you'll find your pads&discs will likely last the life of the car.

Plus - with DRCC, which I use much of the time, I find that I don't touch the brake pedal anything like as much as in a normal car.

 

That depends on the terrain. I find using light braking to slow on moderate declines charges the battery more that DRCC. Cruise tends to use engine braking, likely because it has no way of know how long the decline is.
Better programming would switch to engine braking after the battery is charged to 7 bars, for instance.

In terms of braking, I can't remember a huge difference between my Subaru and the Gen 3 Prius, but I was probably so excited about regent braking that I didn't care.

One slight warning is that you'll definitely have a different feel if you're braking and hit a bump. On the Gen 3, there were some people who seriously hated the feel and there were several posts in these forums. I rarely experienced it on the Gen 3, and have felt it once so far on the 2018.

It feels like the car's actually slipping or some people even feel like it's surging. My theory is that in general there's a smooth transition from regenerative braking to physical brakes, but when the ABS senses "slippage" due to the tire bouncing it instantly kills regeneration and you're suddenly 100% on physical brakes without any compensation to account for the loss of regen braking, so you do experience lighter braking and have to compensate.

My wife doesn't drive the car that often, but has never mentioned it. I notice it -- perhaps because of the threads -- but it doesn't freak me out and I don't feel like its unsafe. Since we're talking brakes, just a heads up.

Don't worry about the brakes, mine were a bit grabby at first, but either I've got used to it or it's got better, it certainly feels like normal brakes to me now.
I think the UK base model has a basic stereo, similar in the US, I have the top spec with has a JBL system which is excellent.

 

When you can whistle and sing badly as I can, who needs a radio in the car?

Yes everyone says the same about mine just arrived in Pearly White...... which to me looks like Old English White. Shape looks sporting and the car drives super, going to be a brilliant car.

I would also thank all the people who have answered questions which I had, but not necessarily made myself here. I know not to block the battery vent under the rear right passenger seat before I read it in the manual. The car has DAB, Bluetooth etc and all of this works right away, my first car which does this with no hassle at all! Amazing.
