One thing is for sure, they either ordered it here and waited or brought them in from somewhere else. I've now seen more Primes in OKC that I did while we were in Santa Monica/Pasadena for 5 days. Amazing. We've always had lots of regular Prii here.
I saw by first definite Prime today, but they uglied it up! It had these on it. (I know the picture is not a Prime) From DoorShox - Magnetic Car Door Protection, Car Door Protectors, Car Door Guards, Prevent Car Door Dings and Dents Why, oh why??? There was no car parked either side of this monstrosity. EDIT: Here is the Prime.
Apparently they are magnetic with cables so somebody does not steal them, but who would want to? They did not even put them on straight. I have not found the Walmart parking lot especially dangerous, but apparently YMMV. They actually paid $110 for THAT??
I think I’ve spotted a white Prime in my neighborhood. Very pretty! I see why people like that color.
Saw a Silver one this morning when my wife and I went to our favorite coffeehouse (aka, the only one in my town that's not a Starbucks). I didn't know they made silver. I still prefer my blue mag tho.
I'm getting worried. 9 months now, and I've seen no other Primes in the wild here, or anywhere. I know they exist, but where can they be?
I saw another red one in our vicinity. Since the previous one had out of state plates, this one may be different, but I couldn't get close enough to see the plates.
Wow... just spotted my third Prime pulling out of a neighborhood shopping center. Same "magnetic gray" color as my own. I even stopped to let him pull out into traffic, but I think he did not recognize my comradely courtesy. The other one was a "titanium glow" from New Hampshire with temporary plates and a brand new owner figuring out how to use the ChargePoint station in a downtown Boston parking garage. He had just figured it out when I pulled into the parking space beside him... and praised him on his good taste in vehicles. The third was the "blue magnetism" Prime which frequents our local commuter rail station as mentioned in a previous post. Now I have to keep an eye out for the other three colors. This is as bad as taking up bird-watching.
Another place where they are not common is Asia. Just came back from a 4-week cruise and I enjoy looking at the different kinds of cars when walking around town. Saw none in Hakata or Nagasaki Japan, none in Shanghai (after four days there), none in Buson Korea (95% of the cars are Hyundai or Kia), none in Vietnam or none in Hong Kong. Just got my one year checkup/oil change at the local Toyota dealer. Of course, they had none for sale and I asked a sales person why Toyota didn't advertise the Prime. He didn't have an answer.
Hey something happened that made my day! April 2nd 2018, about 3 p.m., saw a white Prius alongside my car. The guy rolls down his window, and asks me about my Prime! He was a Hispanic gentleman with some people in the car with him, and with an Uber sticker on the back of his white Prius. He wanted to know about the gas mileage, the price I paid for my Prime, and the features. And we're doing all this nonsense at two successive red lights! No we didn't block any traffic, and it was very funny to see this guy asking about the Prius Prime. His car lookd like a pretty late model; he said he was going to consider moving into a Prime. So I guess there really are some car enthusiasts still out there! Posted via the PriusChat mobile app. AChoiredTaste.com
I've had several other Prius drivers check me out going the opposite direction. Word is slowly spreading.
I think I’ve seen every color now in the flesh. Except silver. And black, if black is an option. I chose titanium partially because I thought it would hide dirt, but the back end sure looks dirty.
