No - just used some fuel, and depending on where it was, could have produced some exhaust fumes to fumigate your garage.

Someone posted that they'd done the same - for a week at the airport (with a previous Generation PRIUS).

Lots of people camp in their Prius. A/C all night with barely any gas used. What kind of a dealer wouldn't brag about that when selling a car? LOL!!

Only real danger was someone getting in your car & driving it away.

Just gas wasted and the possibility of carbon monoxide poisoning if left inside.

I did this once with my 2014 Prius C on a hot August afternoon in my work parking lot. It was a few year back so I don't remember specifics other than it did consume a nominal amount of fuel and that I didn't notice any ill effects on duel economy afterward.

It should beep at you a couple times when leaving the car running- with keys in your pocket or purse. Possibly 3 beeps if I recall correctly (for next time)

Apparently you left it someplace where you don't lock the door. It would have beeped at you for forgetting to turn it off.

Your anecdote is welcome, but near in mind that your car is a Prius C, different from a Prius hatchback. (y)

Was it in Park or Drive?

Just thinking, 'cus I rarely if ever hit the Park button, just shut it down and apply parking brake. But if I missed step one, it'd likely be sitting in Drive. I kinda miss the old day, when you put the keys in the ignition, and you WEREN'T getting them back, till you pushed the shifter to Park AND shut the car down.

Right, but the idea is largely the same. I actually now have the hatchback and noticed it will give me more warning than the C did. I was just mentioning that regardless of warning, the hatchback and the C will respond largely the same way when unattended.

You can only lock the Gen 4 with the physical key. If I'm leaving mine for a few minutes (rare, but has happened), I power OFF, then back ON - otherwise the DRLs are shining, alerting anyone to it running.

As I recall, the car will complain loudly, including large yellow triangles on the dash, the second you unlatch the door with the car still in Drive. In Park, it will only Beep upon closing the door.
