Out here in this rural area of CA. the wet season has brought MANY Rabbits this year. Unfortunately one of them got into my garage and chewed up the Oxygen Sensor wires and 1 of the transaxle boots. It's gonna cost me approx. $700.00 to have them replaced. Is there any way to "Rabbit Proof" my Prius??
They will even chew on the tyres. Metal around the cables will stop them. Aluminum foil is easiest. They don't like the taste of aluminum.
Parked in a garage but I assume it snuck in as I was taking the car in/out of the garage. I have walked around the garage and there is no other entrance to get in other than the roll-up door or walk-in door. I did set a trap and caught 1 but the 1 that chewed into the wires etc. had evidently received enough of a jolt to incapacitate him. It was still alive but really messed up. I put it out of it's misery. The tip off that something was wrong was when I pulled the car out of the garage and saw Rabbit puke and a large urine stain on the concrete. I didn't realize that the urine would turn the concrete pure white. Aluminum foil is a good suggestion but that big gap ( in my first picture ) is an entrance to the whole engine compartment.
You could try something like this: https://www.menards.com/main/outdoors/gardening/animal-insect-controls/animal-traps-repellents/messinas-reg-animal-stopper-reg-ready-to-use-repellent-spray-32-oz/p-1444439511797-c-10120.htm?tid=-2715598649204144054&ipos=2 Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Thanks, that might be a viable option to spray around the garage doors. I had heard of a different repellent spray that stinks to high heaven but the stuff you suggest "supposedly" doesn't stink.
The ingredients are rosemary oil and mint oil, so it shouldn't smell bad to you, unless you can't stand either one. Capsaicin/capsicum products are supposed to be good too, they had those at my local Menards, which was in IL. Unfortunately, no Menards in TX. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I just tried to order from Menards and the ordering process keeps becoming unresponsive so I'm not sure I can get it. I also noticed that the minimum order is 6 which becomes quite expensive. I did find it by googling though, as a 1 bottle purchase. Animal Stopper Animal Repellents
Wow, I haven't had that kind of problem. Maybe it's just that store. Go to their store Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Oops, hit the send button too early! Go to Menards store locator and try the store on North Ave in Glendale Heights, IL. It might just be that store, which apparently is the closest one to my GPS location. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I use a tiny ultrasonic device in my carport and another in my garage, both have two vehicles, the truck used to have a rats nest on the battery, the cars used to have daily signs of rodents, in the four years they've been plugged in zero signs of rodents, this link is to a larger device, the company also sells a six pack of smaller devices.
Thanks for the suggestion but I'm not sure that would work for Rabbits. BTW, the link didn't come through for the product.
Well, the repairs are done, $654.00. The spray I ordered won't be here until Thursday the 29th, so hopefully it works around the roll-up door and the walk-through door. I guess Elmer Fudd had the right idea behind hunting Rabbits "I hate Wabbits".
