Those with Weathertech Window Deflector/Visor

I was just thinking about buying a pair. Anxious to hear the responses.

 

I had WeatherTech front window deflectors on my Gen 2, and they did not make that noise. Are they still in-channel, i.e. no tape?

I’m assuming you bought the push in, not taped on the outside frame by 3m tape, couple years ago I used weather tech visor, they are push into the window it make a lot of noise over time, it also leaks air over time. Anyways It also came with 3m tapes that you need to apply before you push it in the window. So Did you forgot the use the 3m tapes?

The noise came from the loose visor and inside ur window. You can fix it by apply 3m tapes before you push it back into the window.

 

I installed the Weathertech Window Visors on my 2010 a few years ago and have had no issues with noise, etc. They were a little noisy the first few days until they fully seated in the window channel.

 

I bought them. Once they get settled in they stop making the crackling noises. Definitely worth the purchase.

 

I guess depends on the car fitments...

I just had bad experience on weather tech. So therefore I won’t purchase another set from them

 

I bought my 2009 Gen II used, and the previous owner had thoughtfully equipped the car with a set (front & rear) of deflectors. I use them when necessary, but can't say I've noticed any odd noises when they're being used, or when the winders are going up or down, apart from the howling gale if the winders are opened fully when cruising at 85mph on the highway in a heavy rainstorm, but on reflection I think that is to be expected! (…thank you, original owner!)

 

Wondering if anyone who's been using the WeatherTech deflectors can post a photo of what they look like on the car (in the window channel). Also any thoughts on how they're holding up in the long term would be great too.

I've never put these on any of my previous vehicles, but opening a window on the Prime makes a huge difference in clearing fogged windows. My daily drive is at the tail end of the battery range, so keeping the HVAC off is often the difference between coasting home on battery vs using the ICE for the last mile or so of my commute.

I've exclusively used WeatherTech deflectors in my cars. I'm now about to install my 6th set on my Prime. Yes, they do make a bit of noise until they fully seat. I've had them in multiple cars between 8 and 10 years with no problems. Every time I see the tape on deflectors, they just look cheap and "bolted on" in comparison. The WeatherTechs do cost more and are only available for the front windows for the Prius/Prime, but I've never missed the back window deflectors. I can see where there might be a problem with windows sealing if you remove them after a period of time, but I never had one break or had any interest in removing them.

I'd avoid in-channel visors. They caused scratching to happen on my previous car's windows. Dust got stuck between the visors and the glass and caused the scratching.

I use visor from WELLVisors. Combination of weatherproof, double-sided tape and clips.

 

I've never understood the point of the things. My 2007 had them from the previous owner. Rain still dripped inside the car if the window was down enough to be useful. After a while I just removed them for the cleaner look.

 

When it's 100F+ degrees outside it helps to crack the windows open. You can get them open a bit while keeping water out if it rains.

 

Ah, while not making it too easy for thieves when parked. Gotit.

Visors are mud-fence-ugly, they add a ton of wind noise, and they probably reduce your fuel economy.

BUT….
I have them on every car I own.
