Prolong reconditioning start voltage at 228?

    On the techstream. Try turning off your laptop's wifi. I've heard that if techstream doesn't have an internet connection it won't try to get you to register. I'm not sure, though, if it will work that way once it's already tried. You clearly have codes that your other testers can't read or you wouldn't have those trouble lights on the dash.

    Also, did you replace the heat shield on the cat? If it's cooling faster than normal, the engine will run more than otherwise needed, although that shouldn't make a HUGE difference in economy since it's always on when you're on the highway.

    Yeah it sounds like the OPs hyb4id battery is tanking and it sounds like he could use a new 12 volt battery
    Too.
    So I would go ahead and do the full discharge as there may not be much to lose. Given the age of that battery
    It’s probably already leaking a little and pretty corroded. I did not notice it was a 2004.

    But baseline the car first. Get on real straight road no hills little traffic. Get the car up to 60 miles an hour reset the consumption mileage meter on the mfd and set the CC. No ac on no heat on no lights on. Travel for about 4 miles on CC and see what the mileage is. Mine was 58 mpgs.

    Full discharge then recharge takes a long time over a few days.

    Wow, somehow I'm just seeing these replies. I was coming back to say that I'm on discharge and recharge #2 and voltage has been at 248 for hours. But the prolong website says max voltage during balancing phase is 240 and that filling should be 235. What's up with that? Can I disconnect??? And, by the way edthefox5, last year I replaced the 12v with an optima yellow top. I sure hope it's not needing replacing. And thanks a ton for that tip jerrymildred! I will try.

    The voltage will be higher if the ambient temperature is cooler;).

    What’s your ultimate plan(stop at this charge, go another round, what voltage to discharge to, etc).

    Do you have the hatch open while you are reconditioning? If so, you’ll pitch your newer yellow top:(.

    Yeah, the hatch is open. What does pitch mean in this context? Ruin? I would like to use my car tomorrow but if it's recommended to go full discharge, I guess I could do that. But if i should see results after a second discharge, I'd rather just use it.

    If the hatch stays open during the process, you will drain the battery;). I leave the hatch and all doors closed (but open the windows) and have the charger and Discharger positioned so I can see them through the hatch window.

    If you want to use your Prius tomorrow, I would stop now and then wait for a long weekend to complete everything ;).

    Check the voltage with a multimeter and if you have a charger, throw that in your 12v overnight;).

    Report back once you have been logging miles on your Prius. The more data we have on the Prolong setup, the better:).

    If you have a charger, just put it on the 12 V battery for the entire time you are reconditioning the HV battery. Then you will have no 12 V battery worries.

    I do the 12V charger AND I turn off the dome lights. But I'm a little OCD sometimes.

    Oh I definitely keep the dome lights off. My battery was at 12.1V but it's on the charger.

    alright, 12v is charged and reinstalled (I had an absurd amount of water in my trunk I guess from leaving the hatch open a tiny crack?? :( So I removed the 12v which was sitting in water!). Turned her on and no dash lights. Like none at all....
