You shut it off by fixing the problem. Do you have the trouble codes yet? If you don't have a scantool, you can search posts here for how to read the codes with a short length of wire and counting light blinks. -Chap
I appreciate you trying to help but your condescending tone at the beginning of your reply doesn't help. I know the problem already, I am fixing it on my next paycheck but in the interim I would like to disable this alarm. Any thoughts on how to do this?
Forgive me then; that wasn't clear in your first post. What is the problem, if I may ask? Clearing the trouble codes will probably do it, but only until the ECU detects the problem again. Beyond that, you could look in the wiring diagram for where the buzzer is.... -Chap
I didn't read Chap's tone a being condescending. The way to get the tone off is to do the repair. Chap is a good guy and an invaluable member of this forum. This is a pretty friendly forum, maybe the attitude problem is yours. When my brake booster pump went out, the tone came on. High pitched squeal. Pulling the aux battery strap would make it go off for a little while, but it came back soon.
Maybe you should read my response first before judging my attitude. I am not an idiot, i know that in order to get rid of the tone that the main thing to do would be to fix the problem. But that wasnt what i meant. I wanted to know any alternatives in the meantime to get it to shut off, i appreciate your help but i think youve misjudged me. Perhaps it is my fault i didnt specify, but theres no need to talk down to one another
Back in February you said you knew the problem; can you share what it is? Do you still have it? -Chap
