    All,

    I am a new prius prime plus owner.
    Is there any way to schedule a battery charging so that it does not go above 90%.
    I have to drive 5 miles downhill as i start my day to work. It gains 10% of charge
    going downhill. So if my battery is not full, i can use that 10% charge instead of
    using electricity at home.

    Thanks for your help in advance.

    set your timer to shut off after you leave. it will take a bit of experimentation, but the last 10% is so slow, it shouldn't be difficult.

    Put your EVSE on a timer. Put up a datasheet with the arrival SOC and minutes.

    There is a more sophisticated solution that uses the three charging lights. If you still want one after a week, send me a PM.

    Try to set the charge for departure to 4 hours before your real departure. You may have to adjust it More or less. Say you have more battery left before you begin charging you may need to set it to 3.5 hours before. I don’t think it will use the full power of steep breaking to top up the full 10% however, as batteries top up the last bit slowly usually but Toyota has some great programming for battery management so who knows!! It’s also a good idea to charge cold use hot so you may be at a real advantage to use a timer instead and charge in the early evening letting the battery cool before you head out in the AM.

    Agree, use the timer, I also drive down hill for 10 miles, the first 1.5 is steep, my soc at the start doesn't increase but it seems I get to 17+ miles before the soc begins to drop, I assume the traction battery is still absorbing even if the gauges don't agree.

    I prefer the charge to begin Immediatly rather then later, I may want to use the vehicle again that day and often do.
