    Part of why the Auris Hybrid even exists is... the Auris is aiming at the mainstream car class in Europe, so they produce it in the UK. (The Corolla iM here is imported from the UK.)

    Europe has import duties that significantly increase the cost of a Prius produced in Japan, yet they don't feel they can sell enough Prii to justify producing it in Europe. So, instead, they converted the Auris - an existing model on the same platform as the Gen 3 Prius - to a hybrid. It's worth noting that they did the same with the Yaris (which is produced in France for the European and American markets), instead of bringing the Aqua (what we know as the Prius c) to Europe.

    The current Auris is claimed at 0.277, versus 0.24 for the Gen 4 Prius. The NS4 was not tested, AFAIK.

    (gasp!) that's disturbing on multiple levels. When we got our Prius, we didn't mind the odd look because it was mostly about a great drag coefficient. When it was 1st revealed that the Prime's drag was worse than the standard Prius, yeah, that was kind of bothersome. But hearing that the Gen 4 Prius drag doesn't meet the Auris?? (sigh) that's one step further down the pike - when 'unique' / 'style' comes before efficiency.

    Read that again - the Auris is higher drag coefficient than the Prius.

    The Gen 4 is an improvement over the Gen 3 (0.25) and the Gen 2 (0.26).

    My theory positively falls back on one economical fundamental: Cash Flow. Even Elon cannot survive forever on, "I would gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today!" I also have one very vivid memory of a firm called ENRON. And, didn't two of the Big 3 declare insolvency? And what about Detroit itself? And the City of Stockton? I just can't see how Tesla can survive in its present form.

    I don't think Terraforming is such a simple thing. If it were so simple to change the climate of a planet, why not used the technology on Earth itself. You know, to gobble up all of the CO2. And how long would it take? 3 weeks? I don't think so. Maybe 3 millennium.

    The vortex generators on Toyotas are usually located near the wing mirrors. They're meant to stabilise the car at high speeds by deliberately generating "controlled" vortices along the sides of the car rather than let turbulent flow take its course (which would result in uneven pressures in each side of the car).

    The other small fins are for airflow management. The ones on the top of the Gen 3 headlights are meant to split airflow around the mirrors. The ones on the taillights on the Gen 4 are meant to straightened out airflow exiting the vehicle and the fins underneath the car of both the Gen 3 and 4 are also meant to create a more laminar flow as the air exits the vehicle underneath.

    Enron was cooking the books. Criminal activity. Is that what you're suggesting of Tesla? GM went bankrupt. Yet here they are - because all bankruptcy means is that someone else eats your debt. Even Stockton, after bankruptcy, is still here .... although that may not necessarily be wonderful ... Bankruptcy is not the end of the world, but a new beginning. Hand-wringing not necessary.

    Yeah, I think they probably junked the NS4 right after they got it out of the wind tunnel. Couple of guys with hatchets and angle grinders spent a few hours with it and, drum roll ...., Gen 4!

    My late Airedale, Rue, once escaped through the driver's side window that was about 1/4 the way down (about the size of her head). I was distraught, and went looking for her up and down the road for 3 hours. Never got to my destination that night.

    Fortunately, she was found by some very kind people and we were reunited by PetKey the next day. We went shopping for a harness with seatbelt attachment on the way home.

    Maybe, maybe not. However, it would be far less risky to produce electricity using nuclear fusion and shut down C02 generating power plants. Cheaper, too. And we would not need high-polluting super batteries to store solar or wind power.

    And of course, a very small, well-known change to the design of autos would virtually remove the need for gasoline, hybrids or batteries...

    Beautiful; but where are the doors , and how many are there? Would be a great coupe, especially if they made it out of superlight materials like carbon fiber!! A look that is much more elegant, and pleasing than my Prime Advanced.
