The RAV 4 hybrid is available in UK. But the Camry was discontinued over here several years ago after poor sales figures.

My girl does, I ditched my smartphone 3 years ago. I didn't need it for the money. My cell bill is $25 a month now, and I use a tablet or the iPod Touch everywhere else. Most apparently hate the new app with phone in Toyotas, and they destroyed the basic value of having a decent integrated app. For those that have smartphones, Toyota won't deliver Apple's system until late this year, and Android users don't get theirs apparently. People complain about Entune because it's not very good. From what I've read, the integrated system I have in my 2013 v is better than the new one.

Interesting, I guess they prefer the larger cargo space. At least the new Camry hybrid has a larger cargo hold now, that's a huge plus.

the fact a hybrid RAV sells well, flies in the face that a hybrid has to have an over the top look - like some of the giant front grill holes that resemble the Predator mandibles. Looks are just a part of a buyer's equation. It can be offset by other features buyers look for.

Well..I'd argue that most other manufacturers are going for the 'stealth hybrid' idea to help remove the 'hybrid stigma' we all know and love. I think Toyota is finally catching onto this as well.

Indeed, with the prices of the Rav 4 hybrid, sitting next to the new V is a benefit. If I were to do it all over again, I'd probably have gone for the Rav4 AWD. Love your description of the front end :ROFLMAO:

Someone needs to sit down and have a long talk with their designers.

Unfortunately, your grandmother doesn't buy all the cars that are sold each year.

While they are wise words, most car buyers are influenced by the look of a car. Some more than others of course.

All "remanufactured" Prius batteries seem to be equally bad. The only viable choices now appear to be a new Toyota battery or, if DIY, the kit of new cells from @2k1Toaster here. His website link is in my signature.

    Not for Camry though.

Dealer quoted them $3,900 installed. OUCH.

So we just take it to the junk yard?

Just remembered a forcast made ~ a yr ago - several NON-auto industry organizations began revising electric vehicle growth upward .... a LOT.

Everyone Is Revising Their Electric Vehicle Forecasts Upward -- Except Automakers | Greentech Media

If all this EV product is coming so quickly, it makes perfect sense this'll be a serious vampire effect on ALL of the old school technology sales. Coupled with lower sales generally ... could be a bumpy ride for some industry players

ac compressor, digital dash, rebuilt the HV battery due to leaking module, brake actuator (replaced for free.. $3200 repair that is more then the car is worth).. car had under 150,000 miles when I bought it.. this is all related to build quality not abuse.. Toyota like everyone else buys parts from the cheapest supplier.. 04 sold at 260,000 miles and 05 hit 299,999+..

I always though Chrysler was way behind on the EV movement.

I would think a pure EV would be a lot less complex than a hybrid and be easier and cheaper to design and build. If nothing else all you have to do is pay and copy. Kind of like your computer, copy and paste. lol

I don't know how well it's doing, but they have a plug-in minivan. Supposedly it has decent range. Chrysler is owned by Fiat. They make the 500e. Pretty popular with a lot of the folks here in SoCal. Traditionally. Has a bad rep for Quality, so that won't necessarily encourage buyers.
many owners seldom if ever, make interstate drives .... but they still want to be able to ... if they ever had to. Most manufacturers don't give a rip whether or not their ev can travel interstate "like-real-cars". That's a huge disconnect, no matter HOW great their ev might be - or
    easy to manufacture.

Judging from sample quantity one is always dangerous.

5 Toyotas, 3 Prius, several over 160k miles, several bought used. Our experiences are why we buy Toyotas.

They're pretty weak rumors, mostly based on the fact that Toyota's trademarked "UX 250h" - a 2.5 would be a 300h, a 1.8 would be a 200h, so 250h is somewhere in between.
